Dig. Camrea help...

I have been trying to download my pics from OPBA Sarasota and the SBI races.

I have an HP 315 wUSB connection. I used a 64bt. card for the pics. I have followed the directions exactly and a little window pops up and says the camera doesn't contain any images. Thats Bull****, I can look at them on the LCD screen no -prob.

Someone said that Windows XP doesn't support flashcards larger than 16bt. That is to stupid to be correct w/all the large memory cards that are coming out.

I want to email these pics, and post some on this board. Any help or ideas would be great!

Technology Challenged,
Greg

Try plugging the USB port in BEFORE powering the camera. Once it is plugged in, then turn on the camera. Just an idea.

Do you have palm software loaded on this computer? Is so you will have to exit out of your HOT SYNC manager sometimes to get the pictures to show up correctly.

No Palm software. No luck w/power idea. I'm about to go f-n ballistic.

Try looking in windows explorer to see if XP is creating a virtual drive..... D or E or F .....etc. You will usually be able to see the memory stick in the virtual drive as a folder.

Also, not sure about that model camera, but do you manually have to put it in 'PC MODE', or does it do it automatically one you hook the usb cable up???

Cash Bar 07-08-2003 03:26 PM

Automatic when I turn on the camera. I'll try the explorer route now. Thanks.

Does the camera show up as a drive resource when plugged into the USB?

Right click on START, then select Explore.....you should see your camera somewhere there (mine shown as "removable disk")

Cash Bar 07-08-2003 03:40 PM

Yes, I found it there. The sub headings appear DRIVER, DOCS, SET UP, SUPPORT.??

gdfatha 07-08-2003 03:41 PM

It's not a Windows XP problem..I just down loaded my 256mb xD card with no problems.

I do however use a USB connected xD/Smartmedia card reader. It, as Phantom says, shows up as an additional drive.

Go to "my computer" and see if a additionl drive shows up. Mine are "g" and "h"..

Camera shows up as "F". Click gets me a bunch of sub Folders?

Cash Bar 07-08-2003 03:47 PM

Doubleclick on these folders, opens notepad code for the programs.

WTF.

They are going to be in the sub-folders......here's what yours might look like (notice bottom folders :D :D :D)

Cash Bar 07-08-2003 03:59 PM

They show, but a little different than that. I'm drawing a blank.

Cash Bar 07-08-2003 04:02 PM

I think I will just go buy a Smartmedia card reader. I don't have the patience for this S**t.

How much do they run, and can I get it at Walmart?

gdfatha 07-08-2003 04:05 PM

The following was taken from this site.

HP 315

Packaged with the 315 is a USB cable and two software CDs. The first CD contains HP's 315/315vm/315xi photo imaging software, for Windows only (98/2000/Me/NT 4.0). The second CD contains ArcSoft PhotoImpression and ArcSoft PhotoMontage, for both Windows and Macintosh (OS 8.6 and higher) operating systems.

Did the software install alright? I notice that it does not list XP.

PhantomChaos 07-08-2003 04:33 PM

The software set that accompanies the 315 is slightly more extensive than that shipped with the PhotoSmart 215, and is very easy to use. As we were experiencing severe PC problems at the time we reviewed the 315, we weren't able to download images, however we assume that the software works similarly to that of the 215, which automatically launches the HP photo application when the camera is connected to the computer's USB port. Our Windows problems also prevented us from measuring the transfer speed on the PC, but on a Mac, we measured a download speed of 98 KBytes/second. This is only a quarter as fast as high-end USB cameras we've tested, but it's still fast enough to completely empty an 8MB memory card in a little more than a minute.

Cash Bar 07-08-2003 04:33 PM

Everything appears to be installed right. It does all the steps of downloads up to when a little window says "the camera contains no files". Huh?

Cash Bar 07-08-2003 04:38 PM

PC, the software does auto-launch, it just does not allow me to transfer images. It keeps telling me it is empty. I don't want to keep everyone busy, so I guess I'll just go get a Smartmedia reader.

If that doesn't work I'll be in the market for a new computer!

These messages are from last year, but they sound like exactly what you are going through.
