200 or so, depending on maintenance. The engines are set up very safe, they will have preluber, custom oil coolers, and the computer system is very elaborate. It includes a safe mode which will richen engines and slow to2500 rpm if a problem is detected.

All I can say is Ive personally seen these motors and they look awesome, that pearl green and all the chrome really sets it off. You guys keep up the good work, I will talk to you tomorrow on a possible project for Radio Active, thanks Jeff:D

WALKIN THE DOG on Lake Anna is currently building a very similar motor for his Eliminator Cat. Expected 1100 HP.

We deal with the guys in Wisconsin building the all star alot, but don't have time to play with one right now, maybe in the winter.

Thanks to all, we are working hard to grow in the industry, but will always keep our customers wants, and safety first. This is supposed to be fun!

The 1200 will go for around 50K depending on set up. We also offer this in a 1400HP version, for around 70K.

We build a 650 EFI and a 725EFI. The 650 is around 23K, and the 725 is around 26K, both come with warranty, and are built using only the best parts available.Feel free to call me with any questions.

200 hours, really? Doesn't that take the fun out of it for some? It seems recently that a lot of the guys I know prefer to have rebuilds every 10-20 hours. I guess it's more fun for them! :D Seriously, nice motors.

CigDaze 07-12-2003 09:16 AM

Wow, what a package. I would consider that quite reliable for that kind of hp. A lot more reasonable than the monthly tear-downs. Looks great!

Speaking of rebuilds I have heard on the 1300 sterlings in particular ( I am sure the others are the same) that they are in need of a 40k rebuild every 50 hours done only by Sterling. Is this true? That would mean about 2 times per season to the tune of 160k per year. Anyone else want to comment on this. I found this hard to believe.

dhlaw 07-12-2003 09:58 AM

I dont think that 40k every 50 hours is correct. Keith's 1200 poker run models require a valve train check every 40 hours but that would be very inexpensive.

CESSNA 07-12-2003 04:03 PM

They (sterling and most shop want you to come back to them for rechecks and to line their pockets ,,most good shops can check motors cheaper than sterling . Mine have 187 hrs and oil change every 20 hrs and valves adjuxted every 40 and checked at that time

Quad motors with 1200 h.p. is common and easy I have a good buddy with one 2 seasons old he paid 37k for his and has 1283 hp on pump fuel and has 218 hrs on it now with one blower going bad and two pushrods and a bunch of mobile one oil .
he only got a short warranty though and TMP is first class for sure
