San Francisco Sightseeing

Anyone have any suggestions for sightseeing in San Francisco other than the obvious ? End of July/Early August. Although we're boatless, water-related activities would always be fun. We'll also be in the Sonoma Valley region for a good deal of the time.

There was a guy, a few years back that ran powerboat rides on an old Scarab, Pier 39 Rides, I think. Does anyone know if he's still around ?

Thx, Maureen

Zoom3: I am from your area, Winthrop...wife and I went to San Fran a couple of years ago and I have to suggest Fisherman's Wharf, excellent food and atmosphere, obviously, Alcatraz. I remember a guy doing tours with a big ZX Donzi in the area of Pier 39 that took you out around the bay and under the Golden Gate, looked like a good ride. There was also a WWII vintage submarine that your could tour which was interesting...have a good time, great place...Matt
