fastest 28-30 single?

this has probably been asked a hundred times but its still fun.

sooo , what is the fastest single engine vee bottom out there?
same power , with finished cabin , not a race boat , 500hp , b1.
apples to apples please :)

kryptonite?
warlock?

BODYSHOT1 07-11-2003 12:30 PM

well..per the Savannah results, DQ's notwithstanding, looks like...

Kryptonite
Velocity

RumRunner 07-11-2003 12:31 PM

I would bet the new 29' Extreme will be the fastest.

Based on how fast the Race hulls are, and since the pleasure hull is the same.

Tantrum 07-11-2003 12:40 PM

Two fast hulls are the 32 Sunsation (stepped) and the 29 Kryptonite.

CigDaze 07-11-2003 12:57 PM

I just got back from the Extreme shop.
That new pleasure 29 is going to be awesome!! It will be very fast--If the track record set with the 29 Closed-cockpit boat that Steve and Gary pilot is any indication.

This is going to be the boat to beat.

ScottB 07-11-2003 01:03 PM

If your talkin a strait line and not rough water, it is hard to beat a 29 Fever. Warlocks and Activators are fast V's also

Clay Washington 07-11-2003 01:10 PM

Velocity

I would say the Velocity 280.

Lightweight and very quick! :D

Reindl Powerboats 07-11-2003 01:22 PM

I think this answer is obvious.

What boat has been banned from all these classes for winning too many races? Which boat is still banned, even from Super Vee Light? Which boat is still the P4 World Champion?

Here is a PIC...
http://www.cincinnatirace.com/6.html

The answer is the Ocke Mannerfelt Design 28 Pleasure boat.

For details, email [email protected]

I can't argue there, I had a deposit on one when Armada built them and test drove a single w/ 575 and hit 92 on GPS through rollers in Miami inlet and it was still excellerating. Very impressive. Unfortunately Armada didn't last and with them went my 1k deposit. I am Glad to see Chris is building them though

Shane 07-11-2003 01:52 PM

I have to agree on the 28 Bat Boat as well. I have ridden in one several times and all I can say is WOW!:D

Reindl Powerboats 07-11-2003 02:13 PM

Scott,

Sorry to hear that, I had no idea. I think he ran off with many deposits, and we will honor them if you are ever interested again. The interior is completely new this year and the boat rides much better.

My number is (513) 706-3199 if you have any ?'s.

ScottB 07-11-2003 02:20 PM

I'm just glad a company like yours is building these boats.
You may sell a few more if you drag on around and race it it P-class. As if your not dragging enough boats to each race

CAP071 07-11-2003 03:23 PM

DID SOMEONE SAY CARMEN ELECTRA?

For a boat that I am going to use everyday pleasure and race around in. I pick Sunsation hands down. Owned a Formula, Checkmate, and Baja. I'm not saying they are the fastest. I 'm just saying best bang for the buck everyday boater out there should look into a Sunsation 28 or 32

Scott,

Thanks. Here is a Pic of the back seats. They will surely hold you in when the going gets rough - like on the way to the Bahamas.

Steve_H 07-11-2003 05:22 PM

Reindl Powerboats , very cool boat.

Offer me $100k for mine, and it's yours. As far as I know it's the only hardtop in the US, and one of only five hardtops in the world. All Kevlar/epoxy/Dinvinycel/vacuum-bagged too...

See picture below. This is from the first Armada 28. There is room under the bunk for a PortaPottie and a bunch of storage between the stringers, and even more storage outboard of the stringers as well. Length is not a problem (about 11' to the front bulkhead), but headroom and width are a "little limited". ;) I added air conditioning to mine as well.

I'd love to drive one someday! Looks like a hell of a ride.
The ride is pretty sweet, especially in the nasty, short 2-3 footers that tend to make you ache the next day. Just keep it over 55 mph, no matter what.

ScottB - If you rode in the Black/Orange one at the Miami show in 1999, that was a 525, and there's a good chance that either Mr. Offshore, Ocke Mannerfelt himself, or I was driving it if it was the first few days of the show

Steve_H 07-11-2003 11:43 PM

WOW , C_Spray , that is one very cool unique boat.
just ran thru all the pics and your rigging process.

all i can say is that is one of the coolest boats ive ever seen.
thanks for sharing!

hugetime1 07-13-2003 07:33 PM

I will try for the title with my 26 hustler, i think i will do very well

ScottB 07-13-2003 07:44 PM

Thats the one I rode in I think

Peconic 07-13-2003 08:42 PM

Well, we saw 86 on Black Beauty's GPS when we had Randy's new Kryptonite 29 out for testing. And she was hitting the rev limiter. Randy saw same speed again during the Kilos and she was hitting the limiter again. With a little more prop she should go a little faster.

"White Trash," sistership to "Black Beauty" will seriously hit the water Monday or Tuesday after some minor issues have been solved. That thing has a higher X than Randy's bot, and it has 7" setback due to ITS. Except for that, all else is equal.

If you want the fastest open cockpit V-bottom boat with stock engine, there is no other choice than Kryptonite. And she runs like on rails.

ScottB 07-13-2003 08:51 PM

Kryptonites are fast, but I saw 92 gps w/ a 525 in a 28 batboat
with an open cockpit

thats why i started the thread.
just trying to learn more.
not shopping........... yet.

Peconic 07-14-2003 12:46 AM

Ok, I'll rephrase that.

If you want the fastest open cockpit V-bottom boat with stock engine, and if you don't want to pay more than around $100K (half of it to Mercury,) then there is no other choice than Kryptonite. And she runs on rails. And she's built extremely well. And Kirk is a joy to work with. And Kirk doesn't mind doing specials at all. And Randy, the reigning world champion of F1, just took delivery of his 2nd Kryptonite. And his old one, after winning three worlds and umpteen firsts in 5 years, doesn't have a single crack after Randy & Glenn beat the living daylight out of it. And I don't receive a discount for saying that, quite the contrary ...

IDRPSTF 07-14-2003 12:51 AM

Howard- Fastest V bottom. Dont know how long it would hold up, but its the fastest.

Peconic 07-14-2003 12:55 AM

By the way, if you want Kryptonite real fast: I know of at least 3 Kryptonites in my neighborhood that go above 100. Not quite stock engine anymore, but nothing outlandish either.

If there's interest, I'll do a writeup on the beasts.

wwwTOPDJcom 07-14-2003 01:43 AM

look LotoParty is aready thinking about a faster boat :D
thats good for me cause I'll be in the wings waiting for your 288
:D just take good care of her my 25 footer is growing smaller too me,
a 32 sunsation would be nice they have a deal going right now
99k for a new one

Butch 07-14-2003 10:39 PM

Recently saw a 30'Phantom that ran 111 mph. It definitely was not a 500 hp, but I still think that is rolling. I have not seen a faster single v bottom to date. The engine was built by Total Marine and Performance in Slidell, La.

Checkmate283 07-16-2003 12:23 PM

My friends 2002 27 Activator with 575 runs low 90's. With the HP500 they run low to mid 80's....very few boats in this size can produce those numbers.

bmpnugls 07-17-2003 02:31 PM

If your only concern is speed....(not ride quality - especially on the LOTO)....you MUST drive/ride in a Warlock 29' World Class V....I had one which was too damn fast for it's own good - - NO JOKE - it rode/drove like my dad's bass boats!...with a single 468ci, Bravo 1, 4 blade bravo prop...ran 78 - 80 mph all day...but rough....I say all day...until I busted a hole in the keel pad/transome from too much air time and it sank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BAJA WILL 07-17-2003 03:15 PM

I agree that Howard, Kryptonite, Velocity and the others mentioned, are very fast if not the fastest 28-30 singles out there. But unless they are using something other than fiber glass, and they weight less than 5000lbs, the strength of the hull will be less. But to each their own, just don't cry if you stuff and delaminate or worse.

"until I busted a hole in the keel pad/transome from too much air time and it sank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

WILL;)

bsag 07-17-2003 04:30 PM

What the hell???? Warlocks ride rough???? Im not saying that warlock is the best but i think they have proven that they can run with anything in the rough stuff, mine kicks a*s went the water gets nasty.

If i remember the Howard Bullet 28 is the fastest boat test by the major mags with a merc 500 in that size range.

Here are numbers for my B-28 from the 2001 NJPPC Radar Shootout:
531.2 crankshaft horsepower (dyno sheet available) - 82.9 mph radar/82.8 GPS (radar certificate available). The air conditioning was running, too - it was HOT.

I've seen 86 on radar with the same package, but that was on a tidal river, and I did not make a note of which way the current was running. These boats are not everyone's cup of tea, but they go pretty good, especially for a 10-year-old design. My hull was built in October 1994.

Re: fastest 28-30 single?

There was this 29 year old single girl one time that could..............awe, never mind! :D :D :D :D
