Rare part needed! (OSO please don't move)
 

Ok in my haste to get my boat back together I was rusing putting my (already) cracked winshield back in place. My scarab has one of those big wrap around winshields. BUT its in 3 sectiosn. two smaller side panels and one big curved front piece. (ot liek fnewer formulas taht have 2 frotn curved puieces) The front part had cracked in two long ago but it didn't look so horrible and I figured getting a new one would have been next to imossble so i figured i'd install the old one and forget about it.

Well i (like a dumbass) cracked it in to a few more pieces and there is no way i can install it now. (FYI the panels that would be easy to fabricate are totaly fine mind you)

Any ideas where I can get a replacement winshield for a 26' 1987 wellcraft scarab excel? Will any other year winshields fit my boat? Perhaps any custom fab shops that aren't going to charge me an arm and leg to make one. Mind you its not a flat panel, its large and curved and one big pain in the ass piece. I really don't know who could even fabricate something like this.

any and leads or ideas are needed!!!!

Puder, we were in Florida a few years back and ran across a shop that bought out old stock from boat companies. They had a complete dash with guages for my 88' Scarab excel for $200. I can't remember where they were located but they were on the west coast around Sarasota. Do a search online or find out from Wellcraft who buys all the old stock. Good Luck Art

Aren't those windshields just plexiglas? If they are any glass shop should be able to fabricate one. I had a '84 Scarab II and I had a front piece made for it.

Finney's could custom make one.

How about having some thin aluminum bent around the frame, and making it into a fairing? Rivet it in, and paint. CheckmateF1's 25 Checkmate had this done, and it was TRICK! Very much updated the boat, and gave it personality.

The biggest obstical will be the fabrication of the large center section due to it's overall width. You would need to find a company with a large enough oven. Besides being a wrap around window, does it have any other features that make it a compound curve? ie; does it have a small curve at the top of the windshield that acts as a small deflector? Can you find a manufactures name anywhere on the parts that you have? Finney's may actually have a mold for your windshield so as Cord stated they would be a good start.

teh aluminum idea i'm not too into. I looked at a scarab III (the boat i bought but the seller backed out) that had an aluminum fairing instead of a windshield. ON a bigger baot it looks ok but on my boat (relatively small baot with a big windshield) it would look kind of goofey. And i kind of like the way the windshield looks anyway. Plus its actually functional. When seated it blocks the wind and its big enough so you can actually see/drive like that.
