What OSO is all about!!

I posted a request the other day for OSO'ers in the Pittsburgh, PA area to look over a boat deal I am pursuing. I'm in Kansas City, about 1000 miles away.
Board member "Enticer" ponied up with an email on Thursday and by Sunday he had arranged a meeting with the Owner and drove nearly 50 miles each way to inspect. Sunday morning I got a phone call describing what he found and by that evening he sent back over 6 minutes of video documenting the inspection.

Negotiations are moving forward with the purchase, but I owe it all to Enticer for spending his Sunday helping out someone he doesn't even know, when he could have easily been out on his Eliminator Daytona tearing up the waters.

Thanks again Jim aka Enticer. You're a top-notch guy!

Travis

The power of the board will never cease to amaze me.

Krumbsnatcher 07-14-2003 12:15 PM

Thats the type of people on this board, I am relatively a new member, but think the quality on this board is worth the Advertising dollars spent and a place to relax online.

hats off to you "Enticer".

yep:cool:

Havasu Hangin did the same thing for me a few monthes back.
boat turned out to be pretty ruff so i didnt persue it.
he saved me a plane ticket , wasted time , and the frustration of finding out it wasnt for me.

all he got was a bottle of crown and my sincere appreciation for his efforts.
thanks again HH.

I have had the same experiance here, everybody seems pretty cool, and more than willing to help out a fellow boater

dyno 07-14-2003 01:46 PM

These guys are the best!

dockrocker 07-14-2003 01:51 PM

I'll have to second that - dyno and his wife willingly played host for Mrs. dockrocker and I at the Smoke on the Water run earlier this year. We just met them on the dock Friday night, and they took us out all day on Saturday.

Good folks here on OSO (and the occasional bad apple, but they get smoked out pretty quick!)

Great news...that type of help is what this board is all about :D

Similar thing happened to me two summers ago. I blew a drive and posted my woes on the board. MERLIN540 and KHADLEY saw my post that day and offered help. I droppped off the drive later that night to Charlie. AFter a new lower unit and prop shaft I was down only two days. Thanks for their hard work, but I never would have found them without OSO.

I handed my 2000 28 sunsation to an fellow OSO guy before I had the check in my hand!

I knew he was approved but the bank sent the check late so I just said hell take the boat The check is in the mail.

On another forum, someone needed a boat checked out here in Fla, and he was from Tx. Any excuse to go look at a boat works for me. I checked it out on a Friday, gave him my opinion and lots of pictures. He came down the following Monday, then left the next day with his boat in tow. The internet is truly making it a smaller world, and a larger neighborhood.

Every so often my faith in people get renewed.

Bought the Baja from and OSO member-Griff. GAWD, I LOVE THAT BOAT!
Took an OSO member with me to check it out/buy it-Gordo.

Another OSO member-Sean Stinton was going to check out a boat in TX for me, he called me first and gave me a quick lesson on drives-Brovo vs. Alpha and we decided that it was not a boat for me.

The chat room and the experts in there listened and answered all of my questions before, during and after I bought the boat.

I truly think that because of OSO and the members, I would not have the beautiful boat that I have.

Not to mention the friends I have met all over the place, even though I have not met them face to face.

I sold my 24 Outlaw to Outlawcowgirl and took a personal check for the sale without a worry. I'm glad you LUV it!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I also bought my 28 Pantera from OSO member HotDuck. Flew 1300 miles and drove another 150 to look at it Sat. Took a seatrial on Sun and closed the deal. I doubt I would have done this had the owner not been well known OSO member. Not to mention, HotDuck put me up in his hotel in Ocean City for the night.

My hats off to Enticer. I should have put the time aside and took KC Baja up on his dilema. Sorry about that. Next time. If anybody does make it to the Pittsburgh are, let me know. I will be more than happy to lend a hand in anyway. Email me at [email protected] or call Newport Marina at 412-322-9151 and ask for Jason. Look forward to hearing from any OSO member.

It is treads like this that will give OSO the staying power in the future. Been hanging around this board for 3 years and am still amazed at the generosity of boaters.
