Default Sandusky Tall Ships

Never been there. Thinking about taking my boat and hanging out in the bay-good or bad? What else is there to do? Will have my two kids with me also.

Let me know the do's and do not's!

Thanks,
Mike

This is a Do-Not-Miss Event. The majesty of these ships and the history behind these massive sailing vessels is breathtaking. If you ever have the chance to ride alongside these ships or see one of these events, do it. You won't be sorry!

I had the oppourtunity to witness a tall ships event here in St. Pete last year! It's awesome.

I mean, ya okay, they're pretty cool for blowboats, I guess.

Dock of the Bay Yacht club has a fun day (Kids)
Battery Park Marina close to the wave pool (Kids)
Sand bar (Kids + Adult)

Cedar Point Beach (Kids)
Lyman Marina has live bands and bar (never been there )
Back Bay area has a McDonald's with a dock (kids)
Back Bay area Fridays with dockage and the Radison.
Downtown Sandusky and area has Carousel and the Maritime Museum.

Thanks Scott and Daze for the responses and inputs. Guess I know where I'll be out, weather permitting, this weekend.

I think perhaps the coolest ship was a U.S. Coast Guard Sailing vessel. It's called Eagle and it's a 295-foot U.S. Coast Guard trainer.

What you see here is the ship coming into Tampa Bay under the Skyway Bridge...It's about 200' off the water at the center span.

Be careful if you dont know the sandbar area. That thing runs forever!
