WOW! It looks like there are alot of Sonic fans (so far).

Mark in So. MD - Cash is a concern. I will want to keep it under $60K, so I will be looking for an older boat. 10+ years.

st31 - The Poker Run was AWESOME!!! Flash Gordon (Eliminator with twin turbines) was here, but there may have been a faster boat! All of the "big boys" came to play that day. I go to Dallas about once a month. The next time we are there, Sheryl and I would love to see your 31ss.

klaw - Thanks, but I will need to sell my current boat, then sell my current truck (2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 Z71), then buy another truck (Chevy 2500/2500HD w/ 4x4) that can tow 10,000+ pounds, THEN I can get serious about my next boat.

Right now I am just doing the research.

Clay,

I saw Flash Gordon on Texoma about two weeks ago the day after the Texoma poker run. Pretty cool watching him go through the marina. Sounds like a jet going down the runway. Most likley saw a lot of the same boats you had. While I was putting in they were loading up. Sounded like the races at Texas Motor Speedway.

Default Cafe Racer

I've got an 88 Cigarette Cafe Racer with geat room in the cabin and the layout is nice too. They changed the layout in about 1990 to include a seating area and small table on the port side but then returned to the opposing couches in the late 90's with both the Topgun and new 35'.

You can't beat the headroom in the Cafe Racer. I'm 6'0 and my girl is 5'9" and we can sit down anywhere on the couches and have room to spare. For sleepovers I don't think you'll be able to reallistically go shorter than a 35' without some serious spooning. The Cig is a true 35' where the Sonic includes the swim platform in it's LOA calculation. Both boats have roomy cabins. I drove several Sonics and Cafe Racers before buying this one and the hook for me was resale and owning part of the legend. There's nothing like owning a Cigarette. Beautiful lines and bulletproof hulls. (Except for some of the carbon layups)

I had mine for sale before the season but took it off when I found a job. Email me if you're interested. I'm close to your price restrictions.

Sonic 31 and 35 have great cabins, the 31 is a bit short compared to the 35. As for Genset, I don't believe you can get a factory setup in either.... The 386 sonic has that option.

The 35 and 38 are the same boat from the bolster seats forward, they only differ in the length of the engine compartment area. The 386 extra length in the stern allows room for a 3rd motor option. And you get a larger sun deck. Anyway, this extra space on the 38 allows for the generator.
