My best friend has a Cafe and a gun, and these are NOT comfortable cabins for a tall person. Don't get be wrong, thet are great boats for ride, quality, wow factor and resale, I'm just saying there are a lot better boats out there if your buying cabin. I wanted quality and my wife wanted cabin. Thats why we went with a Sonic.

If you want a used boat with a great cabin buy Audacity's 32 Active Thunder! It has a side by side helm that is kool with the ladies. or look at a used Sonic 35.

There are 3 cabins that allow you to "mostly" stand up (my wife never ducks her head, but I tilt mine to the side).

Sonic
PowerQuest
Donzi

My PQ has A/C, hot/cold water, Stand up head with a real porcelin toilet, shower, refidgerator, sink, and the v-berth is quite large and roomy. You won't find a bigger cabin than on the PQ 34. The Sonic comes close, but it is longer and narrower. But still very nice.
The Donzi is nice, but cramped, esp. with the table in place and has less headroom the either the Sonic or PQ.

I too would love a Cig, but their cabins require you to really crouch down. The new Active Thunder cabin with the tall deck is really nice, but. . . . . . . Damn $$$$$!

Really now ... are you looking for the biggest cabin with a boat wrapped around it or are you looking for a hi-performance boat with a usable/comfortable cabin. Do you need standup room or comfortable seating ... style at the docks or microwave and TV ??

Madcow,

I love the Sonic cabins on 42's. However Clay wanted a 31 to 35' boat and He's also 6' just like I am. I think that I need to look at another 31 and 35 Sonic cabin before I can make a relevant comparison. Your opinion that Cafes and Guns are NOT comfortable for tall people needs some balance if Clay is searching for a true performance boat.

At this length there are somewhat better options but I think
a " lot better" is too strong.

We just finished soccer practice in my Cafe cabin last night.

Cig1 is right.
There is nothing better than in the morning all of us (3) having breakfast spralled out all over in the cabin with fresh air from the sidways hatches.

If I want to stand tall I'm driving the thing. Heck this is boating (camping for the trillseekers) if I want to stand tall to go 3 feet I need a shrink!

I just happened into a nice 42 for a good price. I was looking for a 35 Sonic. I never said Cigarette is not a nice boat. All I said is if you are buying cabin Sonic is a a better value. You know resale goes both ways. Juat as you can sell a Cig for more you can buy a Sonic for less.

Well put. I'd have to agree overall Sonics are known for headroom over a lot of boats. Congrats on finding a a good deal. You've still got me wanting to check out a 35' Sonic cabin again.

I think a few people have lost site about what this post was asking. He was asking for a boat with the following "I want a comfortable cabin". While Fountain, Eliminator, Cigarette, Baja, and Eliminator may all be great boats the cabins dont compare to a Sonic, Donzi or Formula. These boats are simply bigger, wider and taller than most other performance boats. If you dont think there is a difference in "comfort" between a performance boat that is 8'3 wide compared to a boat that is 9'3" wide then you have not been in one. Again I am not saying that these other boats are not awsome however bigger is better for ride and comfort. Just my $.02
