Well after all this time of buying ans selling stuff to OSO members and connections through OSO I finally got screwed on a deal. Back in March I got a call from a Rich Obren from Chicago. He said a friend seen that I had a cover for a 42 fountain for sale. I told him yes I did and it was $200.00 plus freight. He said he would send me a check. I sent the Cover. He got the cover and said it was exactly how I described it and it worked fine.

I have never received payment I have sent two letters and numerous calls and left messages but it appears he is not going to pay me. He said once that the check was sent and must of got lost in the mail he would send me another this was back in April.

So anybody selling anything to Rich Obren be careful, he is either very forgetful or a thief.

Most of the guys (and girls) on this board do deals with each other with good judgement and trust in mind. And most of the transactions happen without a glitch. I have had several good deals with various members. It really sucks that a few people have to screw up the trust that most of us have.

Sounds like time for some of our "Chicago Friends of OSO" to go repo the cover and a couple of kneecaps just for good measure.

I hope that some of the OSO guys in the Chicago area who know this guy will help you out Ray. That is just not right.

I did a search on this guy and he has been in a few poker runs with some of the regulars in the Chicago area so hopefully they can step in and help a friend.

I'm sitting in my office and my email pops up with your post. Not only have I sent you payment, but if you have not received it all you have to do is call you have my number 312-560-9220. The post you have put on oso is totally a slap and not necesary along with a total insult. The amount was $212.50 and was sent to you months ago. I do not hide from my debts. My word is my word, to post what you have is just not right. Call me or email me your # so this can be taken care of.

Rich, in all fairness, you should have access to your bank account that shows he received/cashed the check you sent.

If your bank account continually shows a non cancelled check from Ray then it is safe to assume he is right and that the right thing to do is stop payment and re-issue. We all agree that checks get lost but when doing your monthly statement month after month and having the same check not being returned, I would think that maybe the person on the other end never received payment. Not saying that this is the case, but you should certainly have this proof readily available indicating that he in fact cashed the check :)
