Need to get my boat off the trailer for a few weeks!

My 13 year old trailer is in bad shape due to the previous owners neglect. I've fixed all of the mechanical issues, and now I'd like to address some of the cosmetic problems; New bunks, paint, update the lighting, etc. The problem is I don't know what to do with the boat in the mean time. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not looking for a handout, just wondering what others have done in this situation. I'm in St. louis, but I'd be willing to haul it down to LOTO. The boat is a 24' Mach 1.

Regards
Mike Olson

Any marina in your area should be able to hoist it and block it for a small fee. Afterall, its only a couple of weeks and space shouldnt be an issue now that most boats are in the water.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. 2 years ago they charged me $40 bucks total; on & off, with 2 yardarms at the transom and a forklift on the bow.

A few weeks ago they charged me $180 total, same equipment; and I did half the work as they were shorthanded.

I am glad I am not keeping my boat there much longer.

Folks have stated ways to do it on here before by yourself. You my try a search on "blocking a boat" in Gen Disc. or Tech Forum. It can be done with cinder blocks, a high lift floor jack, and some patience.

You can also block it yourself. Best to have someone help that has done this before though. Need boards, cinder blocks and at least 2 jacks. That way it can be in your back yard, where you can keep an eye on it. Free too......

Port Arrowhead at LOTO charged me $50 per month for outdoor rack storage. I did not have a trailer when I bought it, so I had it deliveried to Port Arrowhead and stored for a few months. When I got a trailer, they loaded it on the trailer at no extra charge.

Good luck,
Doug
