29 Fountain Fever Cockpit
looking into getting a new (used) boat and considering the 29 fever.......... main reason, it really seems to have a larger cockpit than all the other boats in it's class, but sacrafices the cabin. Which I don't care about that much and would rather have the cockpit room. I've haven't been in a 29 in a while and was wondering if the cock pit is really larger than other boats in it's class, like 29 profile, 288 Sunsation.... etc. What do you guys think?

Not sure what you mean by larger? few years back i was looking at a 1990 29'er to buy.....the cockpit does feel larger in size but its shallow compared to the others. I didnt feel good standing up in it while under way and sitting just dont do it for me...so i passed on that one.

I'm considering 1998 and newer. As far as cockpit being larger I was referring to the distance from the rear bench to the rear of the blosters. It looks like there is a lot more room there compard to sunsation 288 and others in that class. But the cabin is smaller..... I'd rather have more cockpit room to move around in.

You're right. It does have pretty good cockpit room. A lot more than the 27' and what seems like the same as the 32'. I've never been in a Sunsation or Profile.
Now that I have a Baja 302 the Fountain cockpit felt small. It was my main reason for going to the Baja.

I may be a little partial but I think you should look at a 28 Active Thunder. It has as much floor space as any boat I looked at and I looked at several. I think most would agree it is a very large 28. It may not be as fast as a Fountain but oh the ride is nice. It does look like Thunder will have a step 28 soon and that may be interesting.

I bought the first 27 or 29 that was built with integrated swim platform and I had a blast with it, stayed on it weeks at a time. It's not "Carnagie Hall" but this is boating right????

Fever Mike,
When you say "work with me on the price" what did you have in mind? I'm thinking. $65K..... mainly due to the fact that this is the other boat I'm looking at http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/3/6/50748736.htm
sorry for the low ball, but I think you can understand my position.
Thanks,
Dave
