Why were they testing at night?

Such a sad thing, but I agree with DARRENUS1, WHY AT NIGHT? It would seem obvious that testing at night would be extrememly dangerous, if not somewhat crazy. Sorry, but it just doesn't make sense!

I think they were testing in the late afternoon(still light) the news channels didn't show up until dark. Don't judge I'm sure Jo and Pepe will let you know but right now I don't believe OSO is high on their priority list.

Joe and Pepe frequently test in the early evening, there is less boat traffic and they work all day. When I bought my boat from them we tested until the sun was going down and got back to the ramp at dark. Joe would not run a boat hard in the dark

It doesn't get dark until 8:30p.m. this time of year. The time Jo took me out he wore an inflatable life vest, we were going 70 in 2-4' seas the boat handled very nicely and Jo was very much in control at all times. He is very concerned with safety and a complete professional. If anyone goes to the Pantera section you will see that Jo was taught to drive a race boat at a young age, he also knows the waters in Biscane Bay very well.
I pray the find what they hit. I think it might help some people realize that it was an accident, I for one do not need any proof. (this is not directed to anyone on OSO but the to previous mention of pressing charges)

This has got to be absolutly, without a doubt, the most ignorant comment I have EVER read!

X-Caliber, I think Albert is just venting some of his frustrations regarding this tragic event. He has since edited his post. Sometimes we say things in the heat of the moment and it comes across different than we think.
We may never know if a lifejacket would have saved a life here but chances are much greater if you are wearing one. Considering the ages of those involved, all too many times people that age think they are invinsible.
The thought of wearing a lifejacket on a boat to me used to be absurd, "hey, its only water, I am a great swimmer". I did some crazy **** with garveys and speed skiffs in my younger days and never with a jacket.
A few years later I am married with child and although most of my boating is cruising around without a lifejacket. I will be the first to admit that I occasionally gun it for short stints, but not after this eye opener. When I go out with every intention of running hard, never with my wife and kid, I wear a jacket and so does everyone on board. I only know Joe as a responsible and extremely talented boat operator and this tragedy sickens me. I can just pray those who read this come away with the same message as myself. I will wear my jacket whenever I even think about going fast.
