Yes, I heard lost power to one engine, checking it..took water over the stern a couple times...it happens quick after that! In 40 (I also heard 70ft.) of water near Clayton. It was pretty rough Sat. He was afloat and running at the card stop. We got our card and were g o n e ....heard about it a little later at the banquet. My report is strictly second hand info...did not see the events take place

I overheard one of the passengers at the banquet.... he was still pretty shook-up about it. He said they took a huge wake over the transom... water level was over his knees instantly in the cockpit... they then scrambled to get up on the bow and he said it seemed like less than a minute, it sunk right out from underneath them. They were then left struggling to swim in severe rough water... which thankfully they were all wearing their life vests...
That's about all I caught before he had to leave... I later heard from Mark that Tom had actually seen the wake coming and ran to the helm.... and was on the sticks trying to get on plane when it hit them.
A sad story but thankfully they are all OK.

It was a Hustler, I beleive a 32... rigged with 3- 300hp outboards. Also a Poker Runs of America 'Hall of Fame' boat.

You know NOT referring to that Boat BUT I have seen-way too many boats over the years that are accidents just waiting to happen..

Way to low in the stern.there is just not enough free board for open water condition..

Some from the factory with that condition floating at rest with water up near the rub-rail at the transom..

We seem to have forgot how to do our displacement work or curves of form, nowadays.

the coastguard may start doing it for us if there is ever a fatality due to this.
