Tie Bar Question

I need to buy a tie bar for my new project boat. I wanted to know if anyone knew where the best and the most cheap place to buy one would be?

Maxx has one reasonably priced. See the thread on "hydraulic steering for under $500".

Yup, they make some really nice stuff.

Or you could just get a length of 1" tube at West Marine and a couple of big ol' bolts and we can hook you up:D

Hell those Alphas are aluminum we can tap right in:D ;)

Don't go cheap, I had a friend that lost his life because the tie bar broke and darted him up the bank and the boat flipped over. The fuel fumes is what killed him

IMCO's are reasonable, Max machine works and Latham are pricey. New that is. I like the saddle mount these are the ones that mount on the trim mount pin, very sturdy. Look on www.cpperformance. com. If you buy the one for the rear caps you need to make sure the bolts clevises and caps all are the same size. Imco uses a different cap than latham. Also Imco uses a 5 bolt rear cap you have to drill and tap two additional holes. Latham does not.

The best price I found was WPM. Seems like it was $316 or so. I bought it through Mastry Marine in St Pete, Fl. A freind of mine works there if you decide to get it there, tell him Cuda sent you. His email is [email protected]

I've got a used one. Used two seasons. Currently set at 35 1/4" centers, but will adjust in/out about another inch each way. I believe I got it from Imco. I don't need it because the steering I bought came with one. $100 plus S&H and it's yours.
