KAAMA 07-23-2003 12:43 AM

Hi gang! I've been super busy with my new home and my business. In fact, I JUST hooked up my computer tonight. My hog is ready for the water---all the major structural, mechanical and electrical stuff is done for the most part. We are just tweeking in some of the finer and more minor issues. From here it's mostly estetic (spelling?) and cosmetic type of stuff. I actually cleaned out the boat, cleaned and vacuumed the interior for the first time in about 1.5 years (since all the major glass repairs and rerigging). The boat still needs a good wax job on the exterior. We have been messing with the engine hatch---we are having to fit it on. Anyway, I think I am ready for a boat ride!

Tomcat, no I didn't get your email---do you mean a PM here on OSO? I will go check it out. Hope your projects are going well.

Allan4, how are you doing? Thanks for the kind words. :)

Mark,
With all the money you've saved by NOT BOATING , you could buy a new Powerquest so you don't have to wrench all the time!!!!! :p

Paul

dyno 07-27-2003 11:27 AM

Good one Paul!!! he called me Saturday and he went down to St Joe on friday and had a great time, boat ran good no problems just needs to prop up a little. And he has the next step up!
See ya
Don

KAAMA 07-27-2003 07:29 PM

Well, here's an update. With just me in the boat and full tanks, it's fast......faster than it ever was or has been. I will say that I need larger pitch props. On Friday I was running some standard stock 30' pitch Bravo One props and I was bumping the rev limiters at 5700rpm. It just so happens that I have a pair of LABBED 32' pitch props. Hopefully, these will bring my RPM's down to about 5500 or so while increasing the speed---I guess we'll see. This is where it gets kinda fun. This is the part that I have been waiting for----for a looooong time. :)

Payton 07-27-2003 07:50 PM

How fast were you going at 5700 rpms?

Glad to hear it's running so well.

Hiya Payton!-----Uh, well----that's top secret information bro! :p ;) :)

Crazyhorse 07-27-2003 08:58 PM

Kinda lumpy out there today, wasn't it?

Waterfoul 07-27-2003 09:03 PM

O.K. somebody do the math on that. 5700 rpm and 30" wheels. I have forgotten the formula to figure speed from that. Let's use 10% for slip. He's got stand off boxes on that boat, so I'm sure his slip isn't much more than that anyway.

Who's gonna be the one to tell us Mark's super secret top speed???

'Foul

KAAMA 07-27-2003 09:49 PM

Do the math if you like---will be interesting to see how close it is, however I will tell you that I did NOT quite have the boat trimmed all the way out and didn't stay in it long enough to get a top MPH reading. Trying to drive, throttle, read the GPS, watch the TACHS, trim indicators & other gauges while tring to watch where you are going is a kind of a hard thing to do when you are the only one in the boat. I may have stayed in it longer if I wasn't bumping the REV limiters---I just figured it was kind of a moot/redundant point from there with the need of larger props----but she's a RUNNER for sure!-----made me smile. :)

BTW Crazy, go read the "Grand Haven" thread that was started by "Audacity". I wrote a little story about your boat handling craft/talent.

Mad Hatter 07-27-2003 11:44 PM

Kaama boat looks good. What power?

Steve A.K.A RAMPAGE 07-28-2003 05:56 AM

When Mark was over Friday night,my wife spiced up his Coca-Cola with a little Captain Morgan,,,,SOOOO ...the top speed is not a total secret:p :p :D
Steve

KAAMA 07-28-2003 09:28 AM

Thanks again for the stay Steve and Maria. It's almost like staying a country Bed and Breakfast house----very cozy and good company! :)

Pair of naturally aspirated 540's, about 680HP each @5500rpm

dyno 07-28-2003 09:35 AM

with that kind of power in a 32 foot boat you better be running 90 ish or maybe your just yella!!!you know I love ya, even though your YELLA!!!

Waterfoul 07-28-2003 11:15 AM

Yeah, YELLA!!! :D :D

check300 07-28-2003 02:34 PM

Well if Mark was slipping 10% he was going 97mph. If he can turn the 32's 5500 and keep the slip at 10%, he'll be going 99+mph. Wanna race Mark????

dyno 07-28-2003 07:00 PM

Bill where the heck are you and your Check??? Haven't seen it on the water yet! you Yella too? Saving it for Hardy and GunLake aint no fun. I've been running into Groover and Mike at Great Lakes lately....where you been? Just razzin ya Dude!
