Air voids

Can anyone tell me how common air voids are in the gel coat? I have a couple and was wondering if this is common or is this a screw up in the manufacturing process? Thanks Dwight

Very common.

It's inherit with the process. Not a problem as long as you repair them when they appear.

All of thee above sounds good to me. It is a inherent problem with the process and it is very common. If the manufacturer did not screw it up you would not have them but all boats do. :D Make sure you fix them to keep the water out.

I foound one while waxing my boat for the first time, Saw what looked like a scratch started rubbing harder, pop I fould about a 2" dia x 1/2" deep pocket. It was above the rub rail. I had it fixed no-problem. Kind of a pain shelling out the $$$ to get it fixed though. But it was a used boat.

Should not be there if the hull is done correctly, but they are no big deal to fix either.
