Default Trim Tabs--Should I or not ????

Here's the deal-- Last winter I bought a new set of 280-s K-planes to install on my 1995 24 Outlaw. I bought them to help keep the nose down at higher speeds in rough water. Now the dilemma.... I will be keeping this boat for only 1-2 more seasons, then I am going bigger.

Should I go ahead and install them anyway or sell/return them and put the money towards the next ride.

The boat currently has 550 hp and does not have any tabs at all.

I am pulling motor out next week to repair worn gimbal so now is the time to do it.

Such decisions

Dave

You pose a good question. If the tabs were bought cheap then you may be able to recoupe most of your investment (I am assuming that you are doing the install) They will be a good selling point and may sway someone to purchase your boat over one that does not have them. But I don't think they will get you the $2-3000 investment in return. Personnaly I would install them even though you are "only going to have it 1-2 more years", 10 years from now you will be glad you put them one.

Catmando--

I looked at the Bennetts, but after hearing stories here and knowing how hard I run the boat the K-planes are the only way to go!!!!

Plus I am hoping the next boat already has them on it

Thanks

Put them on!! Better Resale and you have 1-2 years left. With that much HP and no tabs you'll be happy you did!!

Here's the update--

I did go ahead and install the tabs. All I can say is WOW!!!! What a difference in big snotty water. I put them down about 15-20 degrees from neutral and was able to go just about as fast as I cared to. Before I would have been out of the water more than in. I ran the boat at LOTO and she ran smooth and flat.

Bottom line -- I am very happy with the results and whoever buys this boat in the future is gonna love the way it rips thru no matter what the water is like.

Don't waste your money on the Bennits !!! If you want tabs, put the K's on. And yes they are needed on 24 Outlaws !!!! Wardey

Glad to hear about your success. They make a huge difference. Unless it's a pond I'm always adjusting.

Now get out there and try to rip them off.
