Default Looking for advice on 42-45 performance boat

I almost got stuck into getting a peformance cruiser but talked the wife into staying with a true performance boat with comfortable overnight ability. Here is what I am looking for and where my budget is. I am looking for a new or a year old boat, at east 42ft in size, 6 feet of cabin headroom, extermely comfortable but needs to run strong, in the 90-95mph range wih twin motors. My budget is 300-350k. What do you guys think?

I think your going to be working on the motors a lot! To ger a 45 ft poker run boat to go 95 you need close to 2000 HP. To make a 45 Sonic or a 46 Black thunder go 95 your going to need a lot more. You might consider turbines.

Ok, maybe 85-95 mph. I really do not want to have to do a ton of maintainence to the motors or the drives.

The 6' of headroom and 90-95 on twins is not an easy combination to come by. You will need some serious power to make that happen in the boats that have 6' of headroom. Reliability can then be a concern.

If you would compromise on just one of those requirements, your desire will be much more attainable and reliable and would actually broaden you options.

Talk to the Black Thunderr guys. The cabins in the 46's are unreal. A 46 with twin 675's should get you in that speed range.

Is it 85 or 95? There is a HUGE difference.

Black Thunder should be high on your list.

Don't most boats running in those speeds usually have reliability issues? At least rebuilding motors like that will cost a few bucks.

I would be happy at 85, but I would be extremely happy at 95. My top concern is reliability of the motors/ drives, but I want a extremely well built boat that I can always upgrade motors after a few seasons to get the speeds, I want to make sure that the boat can handle the speeds for future upgrades. I am hoping that if I do it correctly the first time, I really will not need to upgrade to a larger boat, maybe just more power.

thanks

I would have thought that wth 800-900 hp motors I should be able to get in that speed range with most 42 ft boats with decent headroom, am I wrong?
