found a nice 1 year old remore control lift at loto i need to buy.
they get up to $500 to move one and re-install so i was thinking of doing it on my own. 4 miles away by water.

how big a deal is it?
anyone have any pointers or is it money well spent to have the pros do it?

its currently in a slip the same width as mine with a 32 baja outlaw sitting on it.

do i need to move anything to fit a 288 sunsation?

May need some bunk adjusting, but I would still definitely pay the $500 and have it done right. If you are there at time of install, they should be able to make sure the boat sits right and adjust then and there if need be.

Oh, btw, good choice going with the 10000#. What kind of lift is it?

I just moved my 8000 about two months ago. Save the money and do it yourself! Leave all bolted connects loose until you get lift completely set. Be sure when in tow with lift, to have rubber plugs (@ bottom of tanks) in place. I moved mine by myself - once I had at dock location - took me about 4 hrs to install. I think it will take me about 2 1/2 to 3 next time.

$500 is cheap insurance if something is not tight causing your boat to leap off the lift. I would pay the money since you have a lot of money on it. Just my $.02

Call Boat Lift MArine Center. They may do it for a little less. By the way, a diver will cost $500 to get it off the bottom after you sink it in 80 feet of water.

I assembled and installed my 10k # lift myself. Nothing to it, but does take some time to do it correctly. I used duct tape over the bottom holes while transporting, and capped the top fittings since I only had to float mine 200yds. Lift also needs to be adjusted so that it comes up LEVEL, otherwise you are putting alot of stress on the arms. The tanks may need to be moved forward or backwards within the framework so that the tanks float LEVEL with your boat on it. All boats should sit in the same location on the bunks, so the tank positioning is your adjusting point. Level floating is the most important part of the setup. You can BEND a 10k lift with a 5k boat if not set up right!
I'd spend the $500 because it really isn't that much for what you are getting.

the one im looking at is a hydro hoist w/remote , 1.5 years old asking 4k butttttttt he sold his baja for a cruiser so he cant use his dock till he sells the lift. he had to rent a slip at millstone in the meantime. maybe ill wait him out for a while

Lotoparty.... tell me how to find that guy!! I'll buy the lift and haul it to Oklahoma!! Dang ^%$ That is one hell of a buy @$4000.00... that is less than what a 4000# Hydrohoist goes for here, and the factory is only 80 miles away!
I paid over 9K for a new 10K unit..... that $500.00 is a wise investment. Two miles is a long way pulling a hoist and 4 is a disaster, especially at Loto. Either move it on a trailer or pay the $500.00 and get it done by a dealer. You can do way more damage or sink the darn thing too easily. The dealer will have any "spare parts" needed to adjust the bunks, etc and consider dropped tools... gone!! Fingers can be seriously hurt in this process also, as you have to control not only the tanks & frame, but four long & heavy arms that all move at the same time!! One of my dealers employees got hurt putting mine in. Be sure the lift is thru-bolted ( not just screwed to the dock. I had one come loose in a storm that was screwed down (from the top and the sides) , stood my 252 Formula on it's tail !! If it wasn't for good ropes on the boat and strong cleats, it would have been gone. Pay the $500.00. Your insurance company will love you for it!!
