LAKE OF THE OZARKS - An accident at the 5-mile marker on the Grand Glaize Arm critically injured an 18-year-old when he fell off the back of a boat into the propeller of a 24-foot Four Winns.
Earlier on Sunday the victim was driving the boat when it was stopped in Party Cove by the Missouri Water Patrol and he was issued a warning for allowing a passenger to ride on the back of the boat.
After the accident, boating while intoxicated charges were filed in Camden County against the father of the victim who was driving the boat when the accident occurred. The boat had been rented from a marina on the Grand Glaize Arm.
Jeffrey Hug, 18, of Catawissa, Mo., was taken to the University of Missouri Hospital Sunday evening with critical injuries.
By Monday morning, Hug's condition had stabilized after surgery and he was expected to recover, according to information provided by the Water Patrol.
According to the preliminary investigation, Hug was sitting on the sun platform on the back of the boat when his father, Michael Hug, 39, also of Catawissa, accelerated.
The forward momentum of the boat threw Jeffrey Hug off the stern and into the water where he was hit by the propeller.

That's plain inexusable. Not only an idiot, but a wreckless idiot, too. After being warned, there's no pleading ignorance.
Sad, the son had to suffer at the hands of this moron.
