There was/is a 1989 Cig Bullet for sale right near my house. Looked pretty clean from what I saw, though I only looked at the outside. Bravo drives, hydraulic steering, notched transom, sitting on a two axle Myco trailer. Owner says new 525SCs put in recently (2000? Can't remember...). Believe the guy was asking $65obo, but sounded willing to deal - winter's coming on soon here in Michigan.

craig, check out cig1988's bullet he's put ALOT of work into it so you don't have to. and it's a great price.

sorry to hear about this deal, but as posted earlier, these things do happen for a reason.

OK ..... I'm sobered up now. Got in to work a little bit late:rolleyes: There were major issues with the survey. Wet transom and stringers 70-100 on the moisture meter (which measures on a scale of 0-100). The deck and hull sides were dry (readings of 0-5), but the bottom of the hull from the transom to 18 feet forward are wet as well:( :(
I feel like a kid that was supposed to get his drivers license next week and they changed the age to 21. Very dissapointed...Anyone interested in a 12,500 lb custom trailer? Just kidding, I called them and canceled my order. It cost me 10% ($500), but I have a credit with them in case I end up buying a trailer in the future :cool: That's business and I understand completely!

I really feel bad for the current owner of the boat. The boat was surveyed in March, 2002 by the same surveyor and read "dry".

I also truely believe that "everything happens for a reason" and will take three steps back and re-evaluate the boat thing. Live and learn, Right:D :D

I also have to say "ALWAYS GET A MARINE SURVEY" I might have spent the best $300 of my life yesterday. None of the damage was visable to the naked eye.

Sorry to hear that man, but the up side is there's some lucky owner of a mah-va-lous Bullett waiting to be discovered by one currently disappointed young man seeking his driver's license. Hang in there and feel lucky to have discovered the problem. It's the other poor b@stard I feel sorry for....

The Cig. also failed some "sounding procedure" with a hammer in the transom and the hull bottom. The survey says that it indicates large voids and/or delamination. I feel really bad for the owner as well, he and his wife are really nice people.

Craig, this is exactly what happened to me but the broker left out the pages that said the bulkheads were water soaked and delaminating. He whited out the page numbers and I bought the boat as is. I sued him and won enough to cover my costs but the damage was far more costly. The boat was never right and we stopped just short of spliting the deck with repairs. Every stringer, bulkhead had to be replaced. I sold the boat as it was still coming apart. You did right, even if they gave you this boat it would cost more in time and money than it is worth. You are right, the owner is screwed. I see no way though that a survey so recent was dry. These things take years to get soaked like that. The soundings you are talking about are with a hammer and it is like finding a stud in the wall. The stud is a solid sounding and the gaps are hollow and empty. It also has to do with the bounce of the hammer as a solid will bounce and a void will not.
