Default Live from blacked out Saint Clair Shores (thank god for generators)

Well this 3 day weekend started out pretty SH*tty.
90 degrees and no power. Finally just got the generator going. Since I have a Diesel truck I don't keep too much gas around the house anymore. SO I had to take some out of the boat which is low to begin with and is definetly stuck high and dry now.
I guess it could be worse , some people are without water too.
I haven't heard much about the reason for this. Anyone outside of the blackout area heard anything?

The worst thing is I drank all the beer last night!!

Hi..

I've been watchin various channels and there is no single reason for the condition. Common staement is "Overload" but nothing specific.

Most agree the system Grid was operating near saturation in the first place.

I foresee a few civil suits on the horizon for inferior service..

Hey Chuck,
We're in West Bloomfield and we got power back around 2:00 today. What a friggin miserable night. A huge thunderstorm rolled through and I was bailing out my sump pump with 5 gallon buckets (probably hauled 20 to the laundry sink) when the power came on. We still don't have water though. I went out to get gas in Christine's car and the lines were crazy, at least a hundred cars long. I've got 3/4 tank in my truck but the boat's on fumes so I'm not sure what to do. I could trailer it up towards Port Huron and hope for the best or try a marina. Have you heard if any of the gas docks have power yet??

Last I heard is that the companies are starting to play the blame game. Some reports said lightning, others said fire. Who really knows at this point. Good luck to you guys up there. I know it came close to us here.

Bill,
The power is coming on very sporadically (is that a word?) some of the places in Harrison twp have power , don't go to Port Huron they don't have any power there yet. Right now all the stations that have power are packed and the lines are crazy , I figure if I get up real early in the morning I can get some gas for the boat.
I planned on doing the fun run with you guys but I don't know what is up now.

I'm in the same boat, so to speak. I'm also wondering if I'll get strung up at a gas pump for trying to put 140 gallons in the boat. I don't think that would go over too well if the lines are big. I'm going to try to see if any marinas are open, even though I hate paying for marina gas. Actually, I just want to get out on the water with a bar of soap. Good luck tomorrow morning...
