muffler test

Great news for us last week our system was tested along CMI, and GGB by an independent source. They used a 502 MPI Merc that was supercharged. The test was done in the middle of the lake, so at dockside it will be about 2db louder.
With straight exhaust the boat at idle was 93db, ran 92-93mph, and had a RPM range of 5400-5500. With our system on the boat it tested 86db, ran 92mph, and had an rpm range of 5400. CMI at an idle was 88, ran 91-92mph, and had an rpm range of 5400. With GGB system at an idle it was 88db, ran 92-93mph, and had an rpm range of 5300-5400.

HP Mufflers

Dan
Put your mufflers on my Twin Engine Blown cat. Took it out yesterday and tried it, It works great!! Had my 32 pitch props on, took it up to 5700 Rpms using B maxs with 130 ratio and the read out on the gps was 110.9..And that was with 4 people and over half full of fuel. Still dont know if Michigan and wisconsin will except the noise but it should be close. No wake area- great, but dont know about the higher Rpms. I 'll let you know soon.:D :D :D

I am glad that they are working for you. What do you have for power?

I think we have a WINNER with HPI.
I have been very happy with the new sound level and the no loss of performance.

Thanks Dr. Santiago

Also very happy with the Hydros on my HP525. They work great. The sound is a deep rumble, that annoying screech is gone.

They work so well that at the Point Pleasant race last weekend, someone reminded me to take them off for the race. Noise being part of the experience and all that.

Peconic

Glad to hear that you are happy with them.

Ahhm, one further unvoluntary endorsement:

In the wake of an accident a few weeks ago, Suffolk County's Finest have greatly stepped-up their on-water enforcement activities. 3 days ago, I was pulled over for a VERY thorough safety check, down to the cleanliness of the bilge. I was finally written up for not enough space between the "NY" and the number part of the boat number ...

Anyway, he didn't even mention the word noise. His boat was louder than mine.

Peconic

Did you have any power loss after you put our silencers on?

Peconic 08-22-2003 10:36 AM

Nothing I could notice. We ran the Point Pleasant race with the mufflers on. We (29 foot Kryptonite, HP525) were in the #3 position behind Augie Pensa in a 38 foot Scarab, followed by the current F1 World Champions Typhoon, Randy Schleuss and Glenn Murray. Typhoon's boat is identical to ours, but no mufflers. We held the position until we had a computer problem in the final laps and had to restart. A big cat took our 3rd place, we came in 4th.
