Hey Too Old
Congrats on the Sutphen purchase! That is one nice ride, show all those Apache, Cig, Fountain, etc guys who is the real king of Vee-bottoms, Sutphen...good luck...Matt

I'm confused. Isn't this the boat deal that went bad?
|
It was, do a search for Parnell Olson and you will find the thread. It appears that the two were able put the deal back together, much to everybodys surprise.
|
What a great looking boat. Did it come with Power?
|
Hey Fred,
Congrats on getting the deal worked out. I gotta tell that hardware hanging off the back scares me. Do you have any replacement prices yet. Good luck with your new project. We hope to see you up here on the water soon! David |
DOES IT HAVE DRY SUMP 6'S?
|
We are going to need more pictures and info Fred. You can`t just lob this out there and leave us hangin`.
|
Fred.... what happened to the "one boat at a time rule" ???? :D
|
congrats fred! this boat is WAY cooler than the cig!
I swear it was being sold without power or drives??? so are you going with new #6 or arnesons? |
Give those of us late comers the details on the boat!!

I used to see this boat run around the Ft. Myers Beach/Sanibel, Florida area. It was owned by the Younquist brothers. The 39 Sutphen had 1100 Chiefs/# 6's that did 105 mph. They also had a 36 Skater with the same powertrain that did 150 mph.

Fred that thing is bad a$$! Doesn't look like enough of a project for you though. What you have in mind? Paint? Crazy interior?
I'd leave it just like that! |
Originally posted by Too Old I'm thankful to Parnell for making the effort. It's a boat I really wanted to own. |
Here's a silly question
If you had a 105mph 39' Sutphen,,, why would you buy a 41' Saber?
|
Good plan Fred, maybe when you are down with this one I will be ready. Then again, I doubt it, you seem to be really going thru them this past while!

The saber is a project I already started when I made an offer on the drivetrain in the sutphen. When I realized the many months it was going to take to rebuild my 41 I bought the whole boat so I would have something to run. This thing absolutely rocks in calm water. Best exceleration I have ever felt in a boat like this bar none. My saber is a 41 apache hull that weighs 11,000 and all I care about is pounding big water. If any of you have ever seen wicked won you might understand the reasoning. :D
Fred will not believe how great it is to have 6's and with even 700 naturally aspirated motors this boat will be outstanding. Fred, enjoy and give me a call this week. NK:cool: |

Tomorrow's another day. 225 miles of mountain towing through West Virginia.:( Happy as hell to be home. Playn....thanks a million for getting the boat to west Virginia for me. I owe ya buddy! Fred Hey, wait a minute, how did you log only 225 mi? I logged 740 today  :D :D :D Send me the pics of that Cig if you can find them. Keith |
Congrats Fred. Call me when you start digging around.:D
Keith Nice meeting you. Thanks again for your patience. :D NK |
Fred, I'm partial to bright primary colored anodizing, powdercoating, etc. in the bilge. Keep that in mind as you rebuild this one! :D Also, I really am partial to Marine Machine products...just fyi. ;)

That might be a deal breaker. I'm not a big purple and yellow kinda guy...afterall I went to G-Town and our colors are Blue and Grey! :D
The boat looks good. Only question is how snugly do those rear bolster hold passengers? They look like you'd slide around a bit but that could just be the angle. Regardless, that is one awesome boat Fred. This is your best ride yet. |
So you can only have 3 passengers and really ring it out, huh? Good thing you won't have a problem with that since it won't ever hit the water! :D
|
Well, what can I say? We were promised pictures of you driving the Cigarette, but they didn't materialize and then you sold the boat after telling us it was a keeper. So... :D
