Gas Prices
Has other areas had a major gas hike? We serve Sunoco Marine gas at our place and they just called and said our load tomorrow will go up 11 cents! There may be more increases coming! We are now at 209.9 for 89 octane and 214.9 for 93! They claim someone is buying up major amounts of futures. WTF!
Locally 89 octane goes for about 202.00 and 93 goes for about 209.00. The prices have not changed much since last year.
here in georgia they have gone up about .25-.30 in the last couple of weeks. sucks big time.
In June 89 was 183.9. It just started getting crazy 2 weeks ago. So it will probably go up in your area this weekend too.
This may sound crazy, but Cigracer and I like these inflated gas prices. But, I guess not everyone is in the oil and gas business. There is a point to where it gets too high and people buy less, so that hurts people on both sides of the fence.:( Burn all of the fuel you can, and maybe we can have rough riders next year.:D
I second that warpart36.
It couldnt happen to be because Labor Day is next weekend. No Never. Its just like the natural gas business. Our local residential provider is telling everyone to expect their gas bills to go up 20-30% this winter because of shortages. Those of us in the oil and gas no this is not 100% true because they have been pumping gas like crazy around here. Finman |

Maybe you guys in the business think it's good, but just wait until the demand goes down due to pricing, and it will.
Mean while, price goes up at the marina, demand goes down. Fewer people use thier boats, fewer break downs. hence, less repair work. Sales of boats will inevitably decrease also! Then we lay poeple off! It's the same all over again, history does repeat it's self. Then a light goes on, and gas comes down in price and all of a sudden there is a glut. |
Maybe Too Old has the idea, never run the boat !
$3.40 a gallon for 87 at the marina this weekend! Argh!
Ours has gone up about .08 in the last two weeks I filled up the 'Burb last night 41.3 gallons @1.599:eek:
$1.599 is about average. The $3.14 needs to be checked into. I don't know about Canada, but we Okies have laws against price spiking.:hothead: That is at the point where nobody will buy any.
Warparty, regular gas prices here are $2.65 a gallon for 87 on land so about $3.05 at the marina. They just jumped $0.35 in 1 day! Bastards!
I didn't realize that. What is the Canadian dollar to the American dollar? At those prices you don't want a big block in your daily driver.
I really don't care about the Gasoline prices. I trade Natural Gas and Crude Oil. The do tend to follow each other at times.
It costs me $1.39 CAN to buy $1.00 US right now so it saves me a bit when I filll up on the US sid. I usually pay around $2.00 US for 87 on the water.
My daily driver is a small car with a 6 and I still burn $100 a week easy! |
Just when I get my boat back out of the shop!
It's about $1.57 for 87 and $1.77 for 93 on the road. I don't want to think what it is at the marina. |
on my lake it is $2.69 for 89 at one marina, and about a 3 minute drive away from that it is $1.99 for 93, but the weekend boaters can't seem to realize this and the place with 89 is always packed...go figure?!?
Not bad compared to Hong Kong
Well, if nobody cares what the price of fuel is, neither will the gas companies. Now they say it will go back down after Labor Day, so who is kidding who? Over the years it has just happened too often. Just wait until the profit statements look like in the future. I guess the share holders will be happy!

Detroit
Gas prices jumped $ .10 per gallon On August 21st at about 10am. This is just in time for the extended Labor Day week (one week before)- Many schools start late August and people go North this weekend.
Avg Unleaded about 1.75 Premium about 1.93 What changed overnite? NOTHING!!!!!!!! This is Petroleum company greed. |
1.89 for 93 jump 20 % over night we have the highest gass in the state of nc but we drive to va and get it cheaper

gas is out of control, there are now 3 things in life, death ,taxes ,and gas, what a way to live, you pay for all 3 and they are only going to go up. i remember with the first gulf war that premium gas was like.92 a gallon and now the rape of the consumer is as strong as ever today:mad:

Due to the gas prizes diesel engines will probably be more and more popular in boats in the us, just as they are in scandinavia.
Diesel engines are more efficient and we will see bigger diesels on sterndrive in the future. Take a look at this article I found and look att the fuel consuption on each engine... http://popularmechanics.com/outdoors...er/print.phtml Latest new I have heard regarding diesel engines is that volvo is comming with a new diesel wch will produse 415hp at 3600rpm and it will be available on sterndrives. Where I live the gas prizes are aprox 4,85us$ for a gallon of gas. 1 gallon of diesel is 2,68us$. thats the main reason that you see alot of diesel powered boats in scandinavia.. I am so bad my 12mph tbird is toast, i get 25 in my truck :) Boat gets good mileage too, about a 1/4 tank will get me down the lake and back quite a few times.
Paid $ 1.54 for 89 on 8/16/03. Same station 1 week later $ 1.74. Almost sh%^ myself.!! They are blaming it on the black out and the pipe line trouble in AZ!!!!!
$1.99 for 93 at the marina this weekend, but they said they haven't raised their prices yet. The prices on the road seem to have levelled off for the moment.
We paid $2.89 on Sat. in Long Beach and the ***** gave us all kinds of attitude because the boat was to loud. She didn't have any problem snatching the $400.00 dollars out of my hand though.

Its all a scam....The talk on the radio stations here seem to tell the same story,BLACKOUT. So why over the last month has it jumped 30 cents? I remember 2 years ago Reg. was .96,now when its at 1.50 everyones screaming whata a deal. Thats exactly how they want us to be(Oil Co.). They know if it goes to 3.00 will still pay it......And they wanna know why the economy can`t right itself

With the surplus of lawyers our country seems to have, I am truly surprised that none have looked into gas price fixing in Western Michigan.
Almost like clock work, every other Thursday morning prices with jump at least 16 cents a gallons. Once you see one station up the price, within a matter of 3 hours at most every single station in Western Michigan has also raised their price by the exact same amount. Back in Jan/Feb, we had record lows (for the past few years), paying around $1.20. Today regular went from $1.73, to $1.88. One month ago, we were paying $1.48. Really messes with your budget when you are feeding 3 cars and 2 boats. |

Once you see one station up the price, within a matter of 3 hours at most every single station in Western Michigan has also raised their price by the exact same amount. My fear is that these higher fuel prices (diesel has also gone up) will derail the fragile recovery we are seeing. It is historical that higher fuel prices will lead to a recession as people are required to spend a higher amount of their expendable income to simply get to work and heat their homes. I sincerely hope that the real cause of this is corrected and soon. Is it the supply of crude oil......no....The supply/inventory of unrefined crude is at or near the 5 year average. Is it the demand for gasoline.....no.....that is down versus the 5 year average.....that is what an economic slow down will do for you. Is it a limited supply of distilled products....yes. The questions becomes.....is it a contrived supply squeeze or is it a limited supply of refining capacity in the States (that was exacerbated by a recent Western US refinery explosion). I think the environmentalists of our country are in large part to blame for this situation. They all but stopped the erection of new refining capacity and forced the remaining capacity to produce specific (boutique) fuels for certain geographic areas which further hurts production capability. I may be way off base and would love to hear some other theories. Sorry for the long rant....I just hate paying these kinds of prices for fuel..........fuel that our economy is based on......... |
Well, our Sunoco supplier just called. Guess what? We got a load yesterday and it went up. Today it went up again 2.3 cents again!
89=$2.12.9 93=$2.23.9 And it may keep going up! We are feeling the crunch at the pumps. Demand is down here in Western New York. Since we pump a lot of 93, gee I wonder why? Could it be that it used to be $1.89.9? |
Filled the ole' truck yesterday...$1.359 ...oops diesel:o
That will probably be going up soon too. Last winter it was OVER preminm gas. |
