Anybody know what happened to fortress? I saw it just about do a barrel roll in turn one thenit sounded like he backed off. We just figured the has to stop to clean the $hit outta their pants. Then they just sat there????

Also on the first turn a bat boat spun out and just kept racing. It was a good corner to sit on!

Hey Kaama, saw you out there. How do you like your hatch and who did it?

Mad Hatter,

The paint and graphics on my scoops were done by MitcherT. I love the way it came out.

Fortress died right in front of us. blown tranny.
We were race patrol 13 right at turn 1,2
the race course was VERY close to us. One of my passengers was nervous all day. it was awesome!!!

towed them along the entire back strait to the channel, couldn't have gotten any farther away....oh well. We saw the second half of the race from almost a racer's point of view. albeit at 10 knots tow. did you ever wonder why specators cheer the poor guys that are broken down? they kept a smile the whole way back. great sports.

the best part was into the channel. it was a cluster funkle. i was getting a little nervouse when the sherriff and coast guard asked if we wanted an escort. ummmmmm.. YES!!!

so we went on plane, with fortress intow, right through the center of everyone. sherriff honking and waving everyone aside. that was fun.

Then we went back out to get the turn bouys. of course we pretended to be a race boat and ran the turn first, THAT WAS FUN. but so was bringing in those bouys.

hey... THEY'R BIGGER UP CLOSE. my buddy was riding on the top of the one that only had a small plug like your kids pool toys inside the boat by the way. should have seen the looks from the pier. fortunately the race patrol sticker make us look slighly less geeky. I said slightly.........

I just got a message today (monday) on my cell voice mail from Scott Wellman the race patrol captain asking help to set the boys that drifted overnight. his message was at 5:30am on race day. I WENT TO BED AT 4:00am!!!!! good thing i didn't get THAT message

I have 2 rolls of film on my 35mm minolta with zoom. will make them into digital pics and post tomorrow. many shots right down the tunnel of Liquid metal at about 150 yards away!!!!!!

awesoem weekend. I am whipped!!!!!!!!!!

saw ya. awesome spot wasn't it
I was the black/yellow/white formula drifting into the race course on occasion....

race patrol is an awesome way to support the sport if anyone is interested for next year or another venue.
you get a guaranteed front row, and a few perks along the way like a free slip overnight next to the race boats in our case anyway, invited to the racer parties, possibly some helicopter coverage of your boat if you tow someone in?????? a sherriff escort, previe to the top secret marine channel to listen to race control and the racers, a cool teeshirt and some goodies from the sponsors, etc

I'm in next year again

Marc and Cherie,

Excellent Job with the race, truly a first class event. We look forward to returning next year.

Those were some of the nicest trophies I have seen all year as well.

Congrats!

Wow Waterfoul,
A weekend of boating drinking and a place to stay and no corrections to KAAMA about the boat being a BAJA!!!

Mark,
We swung by you to see if you wanted to go have some fun. The water was starting to get lumpy.

Hey Mr. Gadgets,
It was finally nice to meet you and your wife in person.
Thanks a lot for the plug. It made that bumpy ride home without having to worry about a fire.
Very cool and clean looking boat.

To the OSO'r I met Sunday. When told me I had to move (just after having to tie up Rambunctious) that it was "Sailboat" parking only , you totally had me. So I apologize for the attitude !

Had a great time finally meeting some OSO'rs face to face and just being in Grand Haven , it is a great place. And is a great venue for a offshore race.

And here I thought my Donzi shirt would give me away

Mark, thanks for the pics. Kathyjo and I had a great time at the races and were happy to meet up with a few fellow OSO'rs.
