Lost Cigarette
1 Attachment(s)
Has anyone seen this boat lately? If so where is it located? It is a 1977 36’ Cigarette Mistress. My dad drove from Houston to Miami in years ago to pick it out. He found it in a dilapidated condition and restored it. I can remember a guy he hired working for months just scraping and sanding the bottom paint off. Yes some idiot had put bottom paint on it. My dad built a building to paint and store it in. When I was 11 years old these were the first big blocks my dad and I built together. We did the graphics ourselves and hired an airbrush artist to help us. The boat was my first experiences in offshore powerboats; I can remember every detail of those rides. My dad sold the boat in the mid 1990’s to someone who I believe was affiliated with the Luxor dragster in Las Vegas. The boat means a lot to me and someday I would like to buy it back. Right now I am in college and can’t afford anything, but after I graduate I will definitely own the boat again. If anyone has information on the location of this boat please write back.

I just finshed at A&M Galveston last December. Do you know Scott Felsenthal he is about to rig his 33 Doniz CC. Are you MARA, or something hard. Good luck on finding your boat

My wife breaks them too. you people in demolition are destroying art. some people don't think rusty old rigs are art though.

TTT.. and another picture... any help would be appreciated... someone help me find the boat!
|
You probably don't have a Hull# or you would have already checked with Cigarette. It's going to be tough because it has probably been painted since you last saw it. How could it be identified other than paint? Anything else stand out on it? There are a few old 36's around, but not that color.
Like this one It could have been stripped to be redone and never finished (or started). |
I'll get some more pics and info soon, I am waiting for my dad to get all his old books together.

Re: Lost Cigarette
Hey EHawk40... my dad just told me he had seen the boat in Dallas a few times and even talked to the new owner when it was there... he just didn't want me to get interested in it until after college.... and I found it without him :D
thanks a lot all and I hope to get some more info on it soon Ernie I'm pretty sure that we have confirmed the boat mentioned by yss isn't the right boat..... thanks for all your help, and please keep looking for me. |
Re: Lost Cigarette
Ernie,
Send Mike an email. If he doesn't get back to you right away let me know. He says the thing is in mint condition. Last time I saw it was 4th of July 2001 - nice boat. I may be able to go over there and take a couple of pics for you if he doesn't have any. Bryan |

Thanks for the help, but I don't know if it is the same boat. I'll have to dig through old paperwork... hopefully it is, but you freind said his boat was pink and teal, the drives on his boat are still pink, and my dad never would have painted the drives, also unless the drives were replaced, the boat isn't the same one. our drives for some reason had the skegs cut down and the picture that was sent to me does not. thanks Ernie |
Re: Lost Cigarette
I can't tell for sure if it is state regestered rw Coast Guard regestered. If it is CC regestered then you can do a name search here.

No cigarette but I found a matching 21' Apache.... Good luck, I will keep my eyes open.
Jr. |
Good luck the good thing is the brand name, that boat will be around somewhere.
You might try running the HIN in Texas. |
I thought I had found the old boat, but upon closer examination it looks like the "large" hatch is aft on his and forward on my dad's.
