Right now I'm also planning on replacing the vents with some locally made naca-style ones.

Take the money that you are going to paint it and put more power to it. Speed is what counts.

Personally I'd just freshen up the existing paint job or go all white. The one thing I would definately do (if you haven't already) is update the dash and maybe the cockpit/interior also. I've been looking for a 1990ish Cig lately and really I think it is the dash and cockpit (and of course engines) that really make the boat. You can take an original paint scheme, put in the new dash and cockpit fabric etc. and the boat looks brand new. On the other hand you can take a new $15000 paint job with the old style guages and it still looks dated to me. That's my .02.

The upholstery and cuddy was done in the winter of 2001/02. Dash is all Gaffrig, and I plan on replacing throttles/shifters this winter. Motors are running good (blown 502's giving me low-80's speed) so I'm not messing with them.

I like the traditional old school Cigarette paint schemes. Too much paint, it just turns into a floating billboard. I hate to see the classic lines of a Cigarette ruined by an over the top paint job. I think a lot of these custom jobs just go too far.

I agree completely. I think there's a balance between "over-the-top" and "up-to-date". That's what I'm looking for.

Does anyone have photoshop? If so, can you take #1 and change the blue to red, and the maroon to purple?
