OT - US Automaker on the right Track
Hats off to Cadillac - at least they're trying.
This sort of thing continues, I could give up my 540i, and buy AMERICAN. . . CTS-V http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....article_id=719 XLR http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0307_lux/ Long articles, but worth it . . . |
I saw that at the car show last year. It is fine! But for $76,250, I'd rather have a boat. :D

fronteht qaurter views eth XLR looks like a mustang.
my biggest issue with them is the lack of interior finish. The interiors (you luxuary part ofa luxuary car) still kind of blows chunks. And i've never beena a fan of the "chiseled" look. I find there styling to be ornamental at best. Interior wise fit and finish (reguardless of styling) isn't up to task either. BUT they are getting better. Or perhaps BMW exterior stylign is just getting funkier :( still nobody comes close to eth interior on eth new 7 series. And for convertables the exterior styling on the new sl500 is gorgeous. And i'm not a mercedes fan at all. The damn auto tranny only pisses me off though... |
I really disagree with the Mustang analogy. I think the XLR is a much more successful implementation of the 'chiseled' look than the CTS. But hey, they're trying.
At least one American automaker is TRYING. . . |

Motor Trend The XLR interior is graced with superb leather buckets, handsome eucalyptus-wood insets, and patterned-aluminum accents. Almost every imaginable convenience is standard, including GPS navigation, heated and cooled seats, a voice-activated telephone, a spectacular Bose stereo with additional headrest speakers, and gauges designed in concert with famed Italian jeweler Bulgari. |

An American automobile manufacturer is making an effort to EARN my money.
Hopefully the others will learn. Get rid of the front-wheel-drive crap sedans, and the sideways-mounted V6, and allow us to use premium if we want. Jeeezusss, it's about time. |
it looks ok in the pic you posted above

Puder, you're right. There is a strong resemblance.
Looks good though. |
I dont think anybody would have trouble telling the two apart on the street. Unfortunately, you know they are not gonna leave the Z06's LS6 motor in the CTS-V when it hits the street. It will probably get a detuned version of the LS1. Which is a power house in its own rights.
|
Either way, either motor, it's a step in the right direction.
|
roux i'll give you that. It won't be sitting in my driveway but it is a step.

90 year old widow, and an Enzo in the driveway . . .
|
Wait a year or two Roux and you'll be able to buy it with the typical 60% depriciation Cadillac get in the first 18 month!
They're on the right track however 400HP rear wheel drive, the front of the CTS still looks a little goofy tough. |
I had an XLR to drive an it was fun fun fun! The way the hardtop convertible folds away is very cool. It also has adaptive cruise which takes getting used to but is great after you get past the desire to want to hit the brakes yourself. I loved the car and didn't want to stop driving!

I never did go for the 'louver' grille on the original CTS.
This is WAY better. |
UGLY is all I have to say about that. I HATE to look of their cars over the last few years. No one does it as well as the Italians but then again they can not keep them running :D:D
|
fyi
as one who helped develope this package the ls6 will be in it ! watch out for the new sts-v with xlr eng pkg! |
The CTS-V is straight out of the Z06. I think it is rated for 400HP exactly, (loses 5 b/c of exhaust). I think it is an AWESOME automobile, am REALLY leaning on Neda that we need to trade the 325XI in for one.
