Fords

Ford apparently has no interest in the marine industry at this point in time. Not sure why,but GM has a lock on all the marine guys,Merc,Volvo,Pleasurecraft,Indmar, and everyone else. The Ford motors worked nice in the old days but for some reason they backed away. Would be good to see them back but it was apparently their choice.

Ford no longer makes a pushrod V8 for the automobile market. You might be able to buy a 302, 351, or 460 from Ford for track work, but I'm not positive, and I'm willing to bet they can't or won't do the volume that the marine industry would require, not to mention the political issues involved (why use a product that you don't even have in your production line-up?)

So, you're left with the OHC engines, the biggest of which is a 6.8 liter V-10 that makes ~300 hp and ~425 torque in the Super Duty pickup. I'd be willing to bet that it's longer and wider than a BBC as well.

That was the point of the post, not that 25 years ago there were some 460 big block Ford put in tunnel hulls...

I have a ford 351 fuel-infected volvo, 1400+ hours no real problems, but I live in Ft. Lauderdale and I run all day at 1000 rpms(hehe).
