OK, I had to do a Dogpile search to find out WTF Scrapple was. The top searches produced some band called Scrapple. I had to search even farther.......

This is right up there with Slim Jims and Spam (anything that lists "mechanically separated" meat as an ingredient should send up a red flag).

"Unless you live in the Middle Atlantic states, you may have never had the dubious pleasure of breakfasting on scrapple - a fried slice of pork-mush. Often erroneously called Philadelphia Scrapple, it's really a dish that originated in the Eastern Pennsylvania farmlands of German born settlers - far from the city of Brotherly Love.

It's dictionary defined as "cornmeal mush made with the meat and broth of pork, seasoned with onions, spices and herbs and shaped into loaves for slicing and frying." The word, scrapple originates from "scrap" or "scrappy" meaning made up of odds and ends for that's exactly what it is - boiled, ground leftover pig scraps with cornmeal and spices thrown in. Scrapple lovers think of it as food for the gods. Anti-scrapplers consider it a culinary abomination."

Does this mean that the Bucs are gonna kick the scrapple out of the Eagles tomorrow night???

cuda 09-07-2003 01:59 PM

You ain't lived until you've had some of Debbie's daddy's hoghead cheese!:D

Very similar to scrapple. They boil all the scraps from the head to make it.

Like Deb's dad says about a hog, "You can eat him from the rooter to the pooter".:p

GLH, I even have a picture of Debbie skinning a hog, but I figured it was too graphic to post! She said the test is flawed, she has never even been in a bowling alley, probably because there isn't ONE in the whole county. Hell, they only have four traffic lights in the county! The only thing redneck she won't do is sling chittlins.:D

ClockworkOrange 09-08-2003 02:49 PM
