Maximus I have a light weight[ foam and kevlar] motion 30' with 300pro max-not xs I like my set up reliable and fast. The main advantage with the 2.5s would be better acceleration.
Get the tunnel tab it makes a world of difference

Default Tunnel tab

Their is no question the boat will have a tab.

Mystery behind the 40-42, I hear jay say both I think he's going to surprise us. It's beautiful, I'll ask if he'll let me show the spy photo's.

Cuda ...I felt bad for me too..went home and sulked. took the Boston whaler. Whalen!!!

Ratcheting dogs......Mechanic K9's????

What do the performance #'s look like between the two? Weight,HP , Torque

I do like the short look of the SS model but the 300's seem to be more user friendly.

Is it possible, desirable, stupid to increase HP on outboards or is it "what you see is what you get" I don't want to sound like an idiot, I know a little.... I know most of you (big block boys) can attest that when "weed eaters" came up in conversation I tuned out, plus it was always "bar talk"

So the boat will accelerate quicker with the 2.5's top end is faster with the 300's
Reliability up in the air between the two , maybe a little better on the 300's

balance- I'll check with the builder

Props... Speed 2 lead what Props are you running and whats your top speed.

Better yet Any Spectre 30 Outboard guys out their what are the speeds you running with what props........no bull**** please....It all comes out in the wash.

Default calculate

Thanks Trout!

Was there a torque listing available with those figures?

So we have a 68# weight difference with an offset of 40hp /total

I know there is a mathematical formula out there somewhere that would let us know if power wise we were safe.

How may hours should I expect out of a 2.5 versus a 300x?

We had it at 100 in Tampa Bay 1-2 footers with a full tank and a boat load. Thats movin on a 30 O/B..The acceleration from a stand still to plane is gonna get your attention its awesome.

I just looked at my weight on the sticker on my 2.5, I is 350# with 15" mid.
I had 300 Pros on my Motion and I did ride very bow high and took much longer to get on plane.
2.5's with 2.1 lower it gets on plane faster and is a much flater ride.
I lost one prop shaft in the 300's and replaced both with the bigg prop shaft.(These were raced 4times from new)
I also lost both lowers in the 2.5's.(These where used and had 2 races on them)

If I could do over agian I would have to say I should have kept the 300's no oil to mix and used less fuel. This on the Promax.

I know mmwalters love's my old OB's

15 x 30 labed 3 blades
so far 104 on flat water with aprox. 1/4 tanks.
Boat runs 102 full of fuel with just me on board.
I have 2 12in. subs, 4,8in. speakers, 2 amps. like 1000 watts rms. Speaker boxes are cored but it all still adds up. Mike Seebolds 30 went 107 at lake x with same props. My 30 also has CMC hydraulic jack plates so i will try a little more height. I think my boat is heaver with all the stuff I keep in it so you can probably go faster.

Default Maximus, 300 Promax, Dif from 300X

I agree on the Promax being good, Not the same motor as the X, I had 190 trouble free Hrs on 300 max's on a 28' Skater. Then bought a 32' Skater with 300 promax's took the promax's off after 25 or 30 hrs, still no trouble, installed 300X's and nothing but trouble, BTW the 300 promax's that I took off the 32' Skater are on a friends 30' Spectre, he thinks he put 200 more hours on. My x's, you need two hands to count how many powerheads have been replaced. Try the 14.5 x32 Mercury Lab 3 blade Cleavers, you will like them.
