There's not much $$ in Melbourne, so selling cars to make real money will be tough.
Like I said, look at Palm Beach or Delray. Delray is great but not too crazy. And, they have a nice ramp that's easy to get to.

Cocoa Beach is kinda a tourist based town, UNLESS, you can get a job out on KSC/Cape Canaveral AFS/Patrick AFB. Or maybe @ Harris Corp. down in Melbourne, BUT your commute would be a *****.
What kinda of employment are you looking for? Cost of living is much less than S Fl. BUT it's going up steadily.
Things are kinda quiet here in Brevard Co. (Cocoa Beach is outer most Barrier Island, we live on Merritt Is. next island over). Lots of Manatee Zones, BUT Manatee Zones are going in EVERYWHERE in Fl. soon, so bring your trolling motor NO MATTER where you think you might end up living in FL! PM me if you have any specific Q's about Cocoa Beach/Brevard Co.

Ft. Myers, depnding on the area, gets a lot of winter residents (snow birds).
That was the first place in Fla. where I saw stores that were closed in the summer and only open in the winter. When I lived in Jersey it was just the opposite.
We stayed in Ft. Myers at a Days Inn near Sanibel Isl. for week and we had a whole floor of the hotel to ourselves. And this was in July! Talk about quiet.
