The 28' Skater "Speed Racer" is a friend of mine’s.

Great boat, really clean! Runs an honest 112. Sunday, with two girls and a half tank of fuel we could get it to 107.

Da Spectre!! Whole lotta boat in the rough.....Whole lotta moe "MONEY" in my pocket. Just look at the pics above, need I say more.............

Skater...NO substitute for the SPEED and Handling. Outboard Spectres fall an easy 5mph+ slower then a 28 Skater. With a good driver, a 28 Skater will hang with a 30 Spectre no problem, just look at the race circuit. I use to race a 28, we never lost to Spectres in rough or calm water...as long as nothing broker of course.
Spectre will leave money in your pocket for sure...but re-sale seems to be lower. Skaters retain better value...its the name.
A previous post noted a 30 Spectre with triples running 111mph? A twin engine 28 Skater runs that fast set-up right. Call Lake X...28 Skater's are spec'd to run 109-115mph with twins. That is what they are confident they can dial them all to do. My 1997 28 Skater race pleasure with 2.5's ran 114mph on GPS. Not the year, that is with the older 2.5's too!

When Flash is dialed in it will run over the current record which is about 117mph (kilo). The 111 posted was a Niagara River speed with a good current. With no current and fewer people, it would be higher.

lightningmike 09-11-2003 01:06 PM

What kind of kilo run is on the Niagra with a current? And based on what you are saying the boat was going against the current? Do not know of any sanctioned, at least recognized nationally, kilos down at that river?
117mph is certainly strong...but the fastest TRIPLE engine 28 I am aware of was the 28 Skater owned by Augie Busch, yes of Budweiser, his triple 2.5 Skater ran over 124mph....that is with older 2.5's, 280's. Again, one step ahead....IF ALL out speed is your goal.

The kilo I was refering to was an APBA Super Cat Light number, and not in this boat. And that speed I saw was going down river and not in perfect conditions. Enough said.

The fastest triple OB 32's and 36's are knockin on the door of 120 as are a well set up 28 with twin 2.5's or 300's. I know of 2 28's with twins that have run over 120.
