Digital Cameras
What do you guys think is the best point and shoot digital camera? I would like it to have a big screen too.
|
I still have one on my truck that will do you just fine. It even comes with a good looking chick magnet hat.:D :D
|
What is your price range?
www.dpreview.com This site will tell you everything you need to know about digital cameras. |
I have the Sony cybershot P72. They make many cybershot models, each have specific features. I can take pics in many modes, up to 3.2 mega pixels, take video or just audio. I really like it. The screen size is 1.6 inches I believe. Not sure if its the best, but if you buy a brand name you can't miss.
Good luck |
good god. There are so damn many. I would like to spend around $500.

Try these
http://www.bizrate.com/buy/products_...0050--53-.html http://www.dcresource.com/ http://www.dpreview.com/ http://www.steves-digicams.com/default.htm I just bought the Sony DSC_V1 ,5 mp , 4 opt zoom up to 16 zoom on lower setting ,nite time shooting. pretty easy to use, memory sticks are pricey though,it real small has every thing and doses the movie clips. I paid 599 from newegg free shipping and Sony has a 75.00 rebated now.I saved 175.00 plus tax over store here. I researched on dpreview and steves theres more info than you can handle. Becarefull when buying on INTERNET , ck there rating and reviews ,the cheapest will get you screwed, |
Fuji finepix 602 zoom, excellent! and X6 optical zoom
|
I have an old Olympus. The two most important things in my opinion are the megapixels, should be no less than 3.0 and how long it take the camera to write to the memory card. My Olympus is painfully slow and you can't take another picture until it finishes writing to card.
I have missed many a good photo because the camera is slow. I know the new Olympus' have fixed this. |

IF YOUR INTO ACTION
find a used one of these 10x Opt zoom Pre capture "no one has this" if you doing action shots this was one camera that didnt miss anything 7.5 frames a sec both 15 annd 30 fps video mode I use it for boat flyby's 15fps 640x480 video capture or 340x240 30 fps if you plan on doing large still Photo's get a high res camera this one is one 1.5million but trade secret is its actually same as the 3 megpixel, High mega pixel wont do you any good till you get to about 8x10 prints whats good about high pixels if you miss the shot I got some good airborne Boat shots with this fast shutter camera, too bad they discontinued it. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/spec...oly_e100rs.asp here is one frame from movie mode original frame was 640x480 good for posting but not printing above 4x6 which is iffy |
Thanks for the help so far guys. I would like it to be handy, fast, and print well. What about this one? Can you guys tell me what it will and won't do?
|
What about this one? Can you guys tell me what it will and won't do?..
The zoom on the above sucks.. If you do boating don't settle for less than 10X OPTICAL I have a new Olympus C-750 ($599), 10X optical, movie with sound, sequence mode and writes fast as hell and is 4.3 megapixel.. See my photos at : http://community.webshots.com/user/gdfatha/3 The Detroit and Vintage were shot with the new C-750 all the others with my old Olympus C2100. |
this is deal . and its still the Worlds Fastest Digital
camera even though its a 1.5 Megapixel ,the superior compression has made it hard for me to tell the Tiff's from the Jpegs that this saves on both CF or SM you can put 256 cards in both slots for a total of like 500+ pictures in FULL res I swear By this camera for sports and general photo's to 5x7, after that I have a Conventional Nikon 35mm for those big pics :D if someone buys thats I'll pay 100.00 for the Teleconverter if you dont need it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=43457 comes with teleconverter Olympus brand 1.7x so you would have almost a 18x Optical Zoom Digital zoom is just a cropping of your original pic so it a bad idea to use it |
DJ: I think thats a little more camera than I need even though the price looks great.
I will use it for boating and boat shows only (and the occasional porn flick). Something smaller and easy to carry is important. I wish there weren't so damn many. I think I have narrowed it to a Canon, Olympus, or Sony. Now which one is the question. |
We bought the bad boy Sony six months ago at work, and are very pleased. DSC-S85. I am sure there are new ones out now, but you can play with this one to see if you like it.

Size is a issue its not compact so it will not fit in your honey's purse :D but its still rated as the worlds Fastest Action Digital even though they discontinued it. the Olympus compact 10x optical camera's are still a good choice though Olympus C-750 UZ http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/read...key=oly_c750uz I cant seem find many with a 10x optical but you will need it, trust me |
This one is a good deal. Weather proof, extra memory, case and about $200 cheaper than what they sell for in the stores.

I have the similar camera to Bam Bam it is slow but takes great pictures, there is a option built into the camera so you can take alot of pics at once. My mom has one of the those credit card size monolta easty to handle but our 4yrold olympus still takes better pics. Just make sure you get like said above at least 3.3mp.
