Will this boat do 90mph???
|
Maybe....on the trailer:D :D :D I would think that it would need a little more HP to get it to 90.
|
Ya, no problem. Wax the bottom and it may even do 100.
NOT! :D |
I saw that one last night on ebay.
Sometimes you have to wonder....If the owner is lying about speed figures, what else is he lying about???? he is throwing credibility out the window. |
No way, not even close. Funny it doesn't show a pic of the motors.
|
As troutly said 75, MAYBE, Maybe 80, but i doubt it
|
That's the advantage of those pitot tube speedos! :D
|
Why Not !
Faria gauges RULE !!! :D :D
|
Downhill on a trailer. Not unless it has twin 900's. I agree with Troutly 75-80 mph. A friend of mone has a 311 with T-460's @ 600hp that will only reach roughly 80. O well, we all add a little to our top end speeds
:D:D:D:D |
I'LL say ON WAY;)

drop it off a cliff and it might.

EVEN IF IT COULD there is NO Hydraulic steering:eek:
which is NUTS !!!! |
ok will this 29 baja with 454 mags stock do 81
http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/0/0/53239100.htm |
Yes !
If i put a chip in my PSD !!! |
(in my best Al Borlan voice) . . . . "uhhh . . . .i dont think so Tim"
looks like a nice package for the money though. |
Hi Brian ... Maybe mid 70s for the Baja. The 29 Outlaw has a lot of room and is a decent setup with that power.
|
You would need 30 " maybe 32" Bravos to do that and unless he's sprinning his engines to the moon , he won't do 90 with those props
|
Looks like a nice package, but 90.....90....90...ah,ha,ha,ha, ha, ha.
80 is more like it on a good day. |
I e-mailed the seller and he confirmed the speed. I also asked what props and he said they are 25p 3 blades.
I know someone with a 38 Formula with 540s, stellings boxes. He said that he was told it is tough to get a Fomula over 80 mph because they have a hook. Is this true? |
You would have to be turning those engines close to 6500 to reach 90 with 25's
|
FYI -- The size of the pitot inlet really has nothing whatsoever to do with the #'s/sq. in. of water pressure that the speedo gage measures. Then the dial on your gage is calibrated in MPH rather than #'s. --- Jer

Assuming these factors here are the speeds it's capable of;
At 5000 RPM 1.36 gear and 25 pitch prop at 7% prop slip = 80 mph at 12 % prop slip = 76 mph 1.5 gear and a 25 pitch prop at 7% prop slip = 73 mph at 12% prop slip = 69 mph At 5500 RPM 1.36 gear and 25 pitch prop at 7% prop slip = 89 mph at 12% prop slip = 84 mph 1.5 gear and 25 pitch prop at 7 % prop slip = 80 mph at 12% prop slip = 76 mph At 6000 RPM 1.36 gear and 25 pitch prop at 7% prop slip = 97 mph at 12% prop slip = 91 mph 1.5 gear and 25 pitch prop at 7% prop slip = 88 mph at 12% prop slip = 83 mph It's possible but not probable. Need more HP IMHO Sean |
jp's kind of on the right track - Speedo pitot diameter has no effect on the line pressure to the speedo head.
Big hole, little hole - the only reason the pitot hole isn't larger is that it would slow the boat down. That is why you can use any brand of pitot and get the same result. I've seen hole diams from 1/16" to 3/16". You gotta remember that the water in the line isn't moving at a steady speed. It is not a flow consideration, just a route for sampling of water pressure at speed. With that said, NO, I don't believe this boat will go 100. Or 90. Or 80. |
Talks up all the money in the motors and then there is not even a picture of them (High Priced Things)
NO |
Friend of mine just sold his 311 with 625 Sterlings. Boat went 82 on a GOOD day. And these were Sterlings. He dosn't say who built his. My guess is NOT EVEN CLOSE!!
