On our boat, it is sooooo much safer to step off of the swim platform onto the dock, rather than to try to climb out over the bow, especially if the lake is rough. In fact, in the case of my folks, I don't think that they could even get out over the bow, let alone climb back in if we pulled in bow first. Unfortunately my 32 has a single, so it is a bit of a handfull, but with twins, anybody should be able to back in fairly easily. It really has nothing to do with being cool.

I only back in if the dock isnt long enough, then again I have a smaller boat so thats a good portion of the time. Just faster and easier going in head first, not because I cant back in, no probs there.

I usually pull in forward............because I like to admire my boat from the front when I am sitting waterside having a cocktail!!!!!!!!!:drink:

Backing in makes a lot more sense, but sometimes it gets tricky with a single. Stepping off the swim platform is the biggest plus. And how do you get a drunk girlfriend over the bow??? :evilb:

30 ft boat and 15 ft docks... no choice usually. Gotta get my old dog ashore:)

We even back in up to the sand bars in the no wake zones sand bars. Throw a anchor out front so the drive doesn't touch the bottom . That way we don't have to go across the front and it would be to deep to go off the back. Closer to the beer this way also:D

We call this mudboatin here at Rake Laystown in Pa. :evilb: :cool-smiley-027:

From what I've seen most folks would prefer the bow be pointed towards the traffic that may pass.
