Clearing "Cookies" ?

This site is running soooo slow for me, thinking this might help...If i knew how ?

Wally 09-11-2003 03:18 PM

go to tools......internet options......delete cookies

TopSpin80 09-11-2003 03:48 PM

you might also want to delete temporary internet files. The best way is to get rid of everything....... format your hard drive.... or better yet go buy a new computer.

to clean up your hard drive from internet stuff
go to the start menu, programs, accessories, system tools, disk clean up. If you have not cleaned it in a while it might take some time to compile. then check the boxes to delete the stuff. That way is pretty safe and you can delete everything in that window.

Shoulda told you how computer stupid i am wally
How do i get to tools ?

Milord 09-11-2003 03:59 PM

Tools is at the top of your browser.

mikev 09-11-2003 04:46 PM

if you go to the advanced tab of ineternet options there is a box down near the bootum under security that you can check. it will delete all your temp files everytime you close internet explorer

Are you on dial up?

clearcut3 09-11-2003 06:30 PM

Go to your desktop and right click on the internet explorer icon then click on properties. Then make sure you are on the GENERAL tab (at the top) and you will see clear history. Hit that!

If your computer has gotten really slow there are several other things you need to do:

1) Clear out the TEMP folder on your C drive (make sure you save your wallpaper somewhere else because it may be in this folder)

2) Defragment your hard drive (if you have never done this it will help A LOT) If you have the updated windows98 or higher when you try to defragment it will tell you if you need to run scan disk first, if it tells you to; do so. If you have windows95 to the non-updated windows98 you need to run scan disk before you defragment your hard drive.

Look at picture below for directions!!

Be aware you will have to enter your passwords back in for all your sites. I did it a couple weeks ago, it's suprising the number of passwords you take for granted.

Sorry I had to go....Thanks everyone for working with me

I am not sure exactly how to fix your problem without the computer in front of me. I'm a hands on person. It sounds like you are using your AOL software for email and your internet browser. You should probably change to Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator (I suggest IE) and it will be easier in the future.

I wish I could help more. Sorry!!

Clearcut. Just by showing your screens you have given me complete control of your computer. HA let's see whats in there. :D

Just kidding

birddog, If you computer seems slow you might want to run some maintenence. Run a scandisk with the option to fix errors first. This will require a reboot if using winXP. If your computer seems to hang up a lot this could be the cause. After that is done you can run the disk cleanup and then do the disk defrag.

Let me know if I can help further

DISK CLEAN UP!!
us it often and defragment.

try downloading AVG free edition and get rid of your virus. www.grisoft.com it is a good free virus scanner.

TopSpin80 09-12-2003 08:58 AM

do you have any kids? have them come and fix it!

wilerty 09-12-2003 09:27 AM

I'm a believer in Norton Systemworks. You can buy a new version for $69 or a 2002 version from Amazon.com for $19, and then upgrade it to the 2004 version later. It gives you tools that will fix problems for you as well as anti-virus. I found it to be cheap insurance ...

http://www.symantec.com/sabu/sysworks/basic/

The 2004 version will be out in a few weeks.
