O/T Advice on Truck Tires Needed
I'm about to order a new F150 Super crew
I have 285 BFG's on my 2001 Super crew and love them the new truck only has 17" or 18" rims. luckliy, BFG just came out with 285's and 315's for those rim diameters Question. has anyone put 315's (35's) on a stock F150 4x4 i want more tire than rim and would love the 315's if they fit. otherwise i'll go with the 285's (33") any pics of either on 17" rims? 285's are $200 each but the tire store will give me $65 for my take off's 315's are $20 more each thanks Ram |
I had Goodyear Wrangler ATS on my 99 F 150, best tires I ever had. I got 80k out of a couple that I didn't tear up on a construction site.

I think you would have to install a mild lift with those tires at least a good 3 inch for off roading or 2 inch just for street use. What brand are you planning on using? If you have a chance check out some Bridgstone Dualer Revo's I have them and they are the best all around tire I have owned. No road noise, no hydro plane at 65, and lots of traction.

BFG refers to BF Goodrich TA's. i have had them on my last three trucks. they suck up railroad crossings and pot holes like no tomorrow. and they really set the truck off nice.
so i am sold on the BFG's. 315's are 2" bigger in diameter, so 1" bigger in radius. just wondering if they scrub on full lock to lock. i don't offroad much. need the 4x4 mostly for the lake effect snow here in west michigan, and a little two tracking in our state game area down the road. |
BFG's AT all the way. I have plenty of tow, and snow miles on mine and love them on a 96 Bronco. Went with 31x10.5 and have a set of 33x10.5 in the garage...

Hey Rob, do they make a 305 in that rim size? Those 315s are a little big for a stock rim and may be hard to balance. I had the 305s on my Dodge and they rubbed every once in a while when the wheel was cranked. The 315 is the width of the tire so 10mm is not going to be a huge difference.

I have an 02 FX4 Super Crew and I'm planning on getting some 315's. They will fit...however, you'll have to do some trimming up front on the plastic for when you turn sharp, this is with the torsion bars cranked all the way up also. I know several people that have done it and thats the only way to run them from what I've heard. Others have put 305's on wth no trimming which is probably the way I'll go. But to answer your question, yes they'll work, but you'll have to shave off some plastic and crank the torsion bars in order to do so.
one more note....check out f150online.com for some pics and stuff, there are several on there. |

Mama Tryed can take care of you well.
Go with COOPER!! I did, and could not be happier. I like them better than BFG A/T KO, and much cheaper! See here: http://offshoreonly.com/forums/showt...ht=nitto+tires |
