What a mess!
This was going to be my winter project but since I had a transmission fly apart about a week ago, it has been moved to my mid season project since I had to pull one engine anyway.
Thinking about bright white on the bottom and black on the bilge walls - any thoughts?
.........Too Old - since it looks like you sold your lastest project, how about coming out to Oklahoma for a (small), tide you over project. :d

you gotta love them projects! I remember looking into the engine room of my Searay when it looked similar to that, and thinking, I should just jump in headfirst so Barb can cash in the life insurance.

Before you can paint that, you need to pull everything. You simply can't paint around it. It won't work. Seriously consider redoing the rigging, it's a huge project, but your boat could really use it.

Now you know why I have never posted engine pics
I think cigracer28/38 and our mechanic are the only two people to have seen them in the past.
The stokers run great but someone obviously had problems with oil leaks in the past?? We found a small leak around one dipstick inlets but nothing to account for all this.
No fire - that I know of, but from the looks of the bottem side of sunlouge hatch, I do believe it had a back-fire or two in the past.
Two Old - for a stepper like you - I figured this was a SMALL project! Well serve burgers in Oklahoma too. I will buy you as many as you like.
