35' Aerotek ???

I saw a 35' aerotek in a recent Hot Boat Mag. Does anyone have any info. on them. I was talking with a local fiberglass guy here in Holland, MI about a year ago, and I thought he said he had a 35' aerotek mold that he was going to modify and put steps into, but haven't heard anything since. Anyone know any more? Just curious, the boat looked pretty cool in Hot boat.

Well Ive posted alot on the subject of AeroTek before so Ill keep this short. Bob Zanine the former owner of the company that built AeroTek was a total complete CROOK. At the time that the bank he was dealing with came in and shut him down there were 10 unfinished hulls and 2 copleted boats. I was suppose to have a 33' w/ 502's in it. I got taken for a loan of 90k. the guy supplied the bank with boggus MSO and builders certs and engine serial numbers that he used for half a dozen other people. He would take an almost completed boat and show it to several differnet people claiming it was theres. I lost about 50k in the whole mess.

Zanine went out of business back in Oct of 95. The molds got sold off and i heard other people tried to put together a company to build them. Just a few years ago someone in LOTO had several of the repossed boats that he bought from the bank and others that got the bare hulls and finished a few off. Don't know where the molds are now or who's trying to do what.

The last few years of Aero Teks (93 - 95) were not very good boats. Many problems with some of them. I always liked the lines of the boat and I think they could be a potentially a great offshore boat in the right builders hand.

CAP071 09-16-2003 06:23 PM

More of Jenny Please less of Areo Teck

Wardey 09-16-2003 07:32 PM

Yes ATTodd, You are correct. The Sarasota based company did build some nice boats back in the late 80's and then started having problems. I loved the boats. At the time I was going to have one built until a buddy of mine told me to hold off !!! They were taking everyones money and not delivering boats. I don't know where the molds went. If I remember right there were a 27',30' and a 35'. Maybe a 38', I can't remember. But at one time , they were nice boats for that era. It would be kinda neat to know where the molds are today. Anyhow, alot of BAD stuff went on when the company started down hill. I can't believe I still have the pic's and info they sent me back then! As soon as I saw the thread, I went unstairs and found it. Dave Warden

Payton 09-16-2003 09:22 PM

Wardley, you mean to tell me that if you had gone ahead and paid for your boat, then Todd would've gotten his? Look at all the $$ you would've saved him. And now his name could be AerotechTodd. Kind of has a nice ring to it. :)

Bulldog 09-16-2003 09:29 PM

I remember reading about that- there was someone fom Baton Rouge La. that lost money in that deal. I got ticked just reading about the crook, and the totally lack of diligence on behalf of the socalled law enforcement. That guy should have got shut down ASAP.

iltimate v,

I would love to hear your story on that boat. When did you get it? What year is it? Did you buy it new from Zaninw before he went out of business? I was suppose to get a 33' but only ended up getting a bare hull that I traded to Active Thunder on my 32'.

That is a great looking boat btw. Love the paint job.

Todd

ultimate v 09-22-2003 08:52 AM

only had the boat about 6 months it was a basket case its a 96 model got it from the otrig.. owner who waited a long long time for it it had a soft floor in it and a blown motor hp 500's i redone the power and threw a paint job on it got almost 100 hrs on it already runs low 80's rides great no complaints except for the reputation of the company....

ActiveThunderTodd 09-22-2003 10:14 AM

'96 model?? I guess it must have been one of the last boats Zanine deleivered. The bank closed the doors in Oct of 95. I know that all the boats that were there had been laid up for at least a year. I spent alot of time in Sarasota during 95 trying to get a boat out of that guy. I know the last boat delivered was a 28 or 29 with grren paint on it. He took it out of the shop just days before it was shut down.

I know another problem with the later model AeroTeks was a delamination issue and a flexing of the bow. they never put in a forward bulk head in those boats so the bow flexed something awful.

i wish you the best of luck with your boat. It really does look awsome.

ultimate v 09-22-2003 05:02 PM

thanks todd.. my boat was tied up for quite a while before the orig owner was able to get his hands on it the bow is defintley light and does flex in rough water ..thinking of installing another bulkhead this winter. but for know it works fine..
