I seem to remember from Key West 88' - a red Hustler named 'Lucky Strike' - was running either A or B class and If i remember correctly won the worlds that year.
|
The first was a 32' Hustler with a pair of outboards-I think it ran "V" class. (as in class five, the smallest, slowest class) back in the late 70's early 80's.

"Lucky Strike" was a Hustler 32, #S-71, that ran in '86. Boat was red sides, white bottom, and red & white top. I believe it was Lloyd Gootenberg, driver, and Gary Garofalo on throttles. It did have twin merc outboards. I also think Lloyd campaigned a 26' Hustler in '85 that was also named "Lucky Strike". Boat was #7 in '85 national standings in stock class. As 31 was Bill Kaye in "Captained Maitained" in a 22' velocity.

Re: Lucky Strike
Loyd Gootenberg and Gary Garofalo won the 1986 APBA Key West World Championship in a red Hustler named Lucky Strike in the Sportsman Class. It was powered by twin 330 Pleasurecraft engines with Arneson #6 drives. The boat was so fast for its class that thier victory was challenged, but to no avail, Lucky Strike was declared the victor. As the current owner of the boat, I would be interested in any pictures of the boat as I am in the process of having her redone.

Hello, I am looking for other pics and info on the 47' Apache Lucky Strike. I thought the boat was mainly green instead of red ? Do you know where the boat is right now ? I saw once some specs of her and she is supposed to be much lighter than the other 47'
thanks all |
