Default Im there

If it happens! Put me in the outboard class baby! Get those feelers out there and pic up a couple major sponsers to pay for entry and what do you have to lose? It would be wicked fun!

One thing that wasnt clear to me was the fact that it said inboard/outboards. Now is that I/O & outboards or are they discrimanating towards strap-ons?

When you run the race ,how many stop did you have for fuel?
How long did it take you to run from miami to NY?

We did in about 42hrs and change, we had to navigate w/ compass and a RDF, remember it was 1978! No GPS then. Now it should be a piece of cake to get there,if you last! We made about 4 or 5 stops. It was a record run against the clock and we raced the ocean! lATER, pepe.

What kind fo restrictions do any of you guys think (if any) should there be for such a race like this? I mean a race team in a 50' cat with turbines can show up and just smoke everyone insight.......
So is size a factor?
what about engines? diesels or no diesels?
should HP be limited in any way at all?
There are soo many factors in an event such as this how do you make it happen and be fare? Or should it just be a "run what ya brung" type of deal and let it be a free for all???

I would love to see this marathon resurected. I think there should only be two classes, a single engine and a twin engine, and only piston engines.
I don't see where there would have to be an entry fee. Anyone who is up for the challenge, show up on the given date. The last time this event was run, the participants made all the arrangements for fuel/service etc.

so your saying a guy with next to unlimited funds can enter lets say a 46 Skater with twin 1300hp sterlings and compete against a guy with a 35' fountain and twin 500hp's? would that be fair in any way? The only thing the fountain guy is hoppeing for is that the seas are rough or the Skater breaks before the finnish. Wouldnt this be alot more interesting if it were a bit more closely matched? Just thinking outloud here is all.....If it was an all out race and going for the time record then i dont think it woudl be held as a big event?

The last time this race was run, there were no rules regarding length or # of engines. The winner was a four engine aluminum cat (Maggies MerCruiser Special) which beat a triple engine deep V, (Popeyes). There were also boats with diesels in this race.
For simplicity, I think a single and twin engine class.

25 foot minimum length...
I guess that rules out a 13 footer...

Someone bring this to Mobile, CITGO or Shell for sponsoring to diminish their profits so their CEO don't have to testify with the idiots in D.C.!
