Great day watching a piston powered boat whip the turbines. Sorry no pics of the actual races, we're too busy screwing off with our boats.

Gerard, send me your email address and I'll send much better versions (larger and much more detailed) of these pics. OSO limits the size so that is the best I could do. Did Tim lose an engine? The new one or the older one?

BTW, yes that's the old NADA CHANCE boat. I think it's for sale.

Yes, Tim lost one engine (the new one) and it's going back to Pfaff to be fixed and then he's selling it......anyone want to buy it???---Probably 85K will do it!!!

He has a new 36' cat coming soon!!

1st SD race I've missed in 14 years. Where did you guys run?? Did you get to run infront of the crowd On Ski Beach?

We watched the races (myself, HavasuCig and Jody165) in Mission Bay and then went out in the Ocean to play. We went down to S.D. harbor. I'm not sure where ski beach is.

My buddy has very high resolution versions of those pics if you ever want them. They are 5M pixels so you can blow them up or zoom in and they will still be very clear.

gdfatha, Sorry, I missed your question. There were some offshore race boats that were part of the opening ceremonies but the poor guys did 3/4 of a lap at 50mph. They had to fully suit up for the ordeal. Nice for them to be able to show the hardware but I doubt if it was impressive to the crowd to see them at 40-50mph.

As SemperFi mentioned, we went out into the pacific and put the throttles down during a lull in the show. That's where those 2 pics came from.

Most importantly, a piston powered boat beat all the turbine unlimiteds including Miss Bud. It was historic. I hope they put the "thunder" back in the thunder boats.
