Great day watching a piston powered boat whip the turbines. Sorry no pics of the actual races, we're too busy screwing off with our boats.

Tim's 42 Fountain (ex Ohio Steel). He was too far away from the camera boat but he was smokin.

Jody,
great pics!! We had a blast and it was great meeting you and you friends. Gerard |
Is that Fountain the old NADA CHANCE boat?
|
Gerard, send me your email address and I'll send much better versions (larger and much more detailed) of these pics. OSO limits the size so that is the best I could do. Did Tim lose an engine? The new one or the older one?
BTW, yes that's the old NADA CHANCE boat. I think it's for sale. |
|
Jody,
Yes, Tim lost one engine (the new one) and it's going back to Pfaff to be fixed and then he's selling it......anyone want to buy it???---Probably 85K will do it!!! He has a new 36' cat coming soon!! |
Damn..
1st SD race I've missed in 14 years. Where did you guys run?? Did you get to run infront of the crowd On Ski Beach? |

Jody,
It was great meeting you guys. Thanks for the pics. We need to get together for a Catalina run sometime. |
Havasu Cig,
Was fun. Let me know next time you guys run over to Cat. I'll bring the Scarab and clean out the carbon :-). Have fun at the Havasu poker run. I'll be at Mead relaxing with a little ski boat. My buddy has very high resolution versions of those pics if you ever want them. They are 5M pixels so you can blow them up or zoom in and they will still be very clear. talk to ya later My cell# is 619-990-8248 |

gdfatha, Sorry, I missed your question. There were some offshore race boats that were part of the opening ceremonies but the poor guys did 3/4 of a lap at 50mph. They had to fully suit up for the ordeal. Nice for them to be able to show the hardware but I doubt if it was impressive to the crowd to see them at 40-50mph.
As SemperFi mentioned, we went out into the pacific and put the throttles down during a lull in the show. That's where those 2 pics came from. Most importantly, a piston powered boat beat all the turbine unlimiteds including Miss Bud. It was historic. I hope they put the "thunder" back in the thunder boats. Jod |
I would think that 85k is a pretty good deal for the old Ohio Steel - Nada Chance!!!
