Now that is crazy. Ever go to The Oyster Deck under the Dunlawton Bridge? I went to the old place for years before they moved next door. I have a friend Jenny Ferrel that worked there for years. I'll be down the week after the Lauderdale race , if ya wanna hook up let me know. BH

Steve 1 09-24-2003 07:34 PM

Ted Ouch !! Man where do you go to cry after that??

CAP071 09-24-2003 08:36 PM

But Hey Insurance will cover it I'm sure Just another reason to raise rates again next year :hothead:

ChrisK 09-24-2003 09:54 PM

I have been in Ponce inlet... not the place to lose power at ALL... it can be down right NASTY in there.

THEJOKER 09-24-2003 09:58 PM

My brother broke his back in my race boat right in the middle of the inlet - freak accident. He was in the Halifax Medical Center for 3 weeks. Bad memories and much respect for that inlet. BH

Doesn't look like he lost power, more like lost brains because he didn't take the advice of people who know.

Sounds like one of them new GPS/radar units would have come in handy.

At least no one was hurt. Except for the insurance companies.

dhlaw 09-25-2003 05:21 PM

He said that he was navigating from a c-map card in his GPS. I usually will run my radar on 1 mile, use the GPS and best of all my 1 million candlepower light!!!!

thisistank 09-25-2003 07:27 PM

Excuse my ingnorance on this matter, but I've never really been into any harbors out east except in and around Miami. What's the deal? I know out here on the west coast the jetties stick out on either side of a large opening into a harbor. It said there were lights on the jetty. How do you hit that? Is the opening tiny? Was it unusually rough? What's the story? I don't recall any yacht or other boat running into a jetty out here ever. But it sounds like it occurs almost regularly out that way. Why?

Ponce is certainly a challenge. What a shame. Gorgeous boat. GPS is certainly not going to be accurate enough in a narrow (150 ft maybe) wide channel. Why wouldn't he wait?? I would venture to guess any of us reading this would have attempted it. We've all been on the water for years. We know better- right??? I know I could have made it...

You gotta be kidding...I have eaten in that place about 25 times...ALTEAST!!

We hang out there for Speedweeks and the Daytona 500. We used to be at the old place, then they had to put everyone in tents outside, they got so busy. The new place has a line about 50 people deep to order at night, but aleast more seating and more $$ to be made....

That's hilarious...I know that place well and I'm sure I know who your freind is. Look for the Melling Racing stuff in there next time you go, those are the guys we are good freinds with and hang with.

Allan:)
