acceptable monetary wedding gift?

?

IDRPSTF 09-26-2003 03:15 PM

I dont understand the question.
As a gift for the Bride and Groom to start a new life? Or to solicite a Bridesmaid the night of the wedding? Please be more specific.

CigDaze 09-26-2003 03:16 PM

"acceptable monetary wedding gift?"

As in you're going to someone's wedding, how much to stuff in the card?

I usually give 100 bucks...200 if they're REALLY good friends.

Tantrum 09-26-2003 03:17 PM

I usually go $250 if the wedding is paid for and $350 if the happy couple is flipping the bill themselves. I dont know how I came up with that but its just what I do.

Tantrum 09-26-2003 03:18 PM

Baja Daze;
I most often decline the less than "really good friends" and go boating.

sgrady 09-26-2003 03:19 PM

$150 for the gift, $100 Gift Cert. for an attorney !

Tim G. 09-26-2003 03:22 PM

No way. I send them a bill for my time.. The way I see it, they owe me $200.

SLINGSHOT 09-26-2003 03:33 PM

good friend....i am not in the wedding blah blah blah

HiPerf2000 09-26-2003 03:40 PM

usually 150 or 250..... depends on if they ruined my weekend or not.

mopower 09-26-2003 03:40 PM

$100 friends , $200 family

Sling , Good friend go $200 and keep in mind you're saving tux rental (about $125) since your not in the wedding.

And don't forget to bring my wheels inside:D

Or snowmobiling if it's in the winter. I concur!

robyw1 09-26-2003 03:44 PM

about 10 if it is my family because they have a habit of doing this about once every two years. Friends? about 100 unless they owe me money :D

Good thinking! I hate weddings...especially on a nice summer day!

CAP071 09-26-2003 03:49 PM

$100 - $300 depends on who it is, and if I ever slept with the bride to be :D

JaayTeee 09-26-2003 04:16 PM

First timers..........Up to $100
2nd owners........No more than $50
3 time losers......Zero, they should be
happy anyone came to the wedding;)

I go anywhere from $200 - $300, unless of course they are one of those jack-ass couples who choose Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day Weekends. Then I adjust depending on how the weather is. :D

TopSpin80 09-26-2003 06:22 PM

You wouldn't believe some of the cheap skates at my wedding... SOmebody thought a $9.00 iron was a good enough gift.... wasn't even worth the invite to have them come.

Smitty 09-26-2003 06:57 PM

I usually give 100.00 per person attending.

I just got married last month and had two people attend who gave NOTHING. They got prime rib and all they could drink for 4 hours !!! Guess ya know who you're friends really are.

BadDog 09-26-2003 07:48 PM

If the sun is shining I won't go to a wedding. Boat time. If they are friends then get them something for the boat and bite your tongue and go. If they don't have a boat then take them boating. Period. Summer is too short for weddings. Sorry. Just that simple.

US1 Fountain 09-26-2003 08:56 PM

Zero. I never give money as a gift. Way to impersonnel. Seems like cash has replaced gifts for B-days, X-mas and weddings these days. While the cash can pay some bills, take the time to find a gift. The cash will be spent and forgotten soon enough. A well thought out gift (not the toaters type gifts) will be remembered.
Sorry, just my opinion.

wayne 09-26-2003 09:16 PM

it depends on where the wedding is , what state . a wedding in new york cost alot more than a wedding in alabama , im sure .

IDRPSTF 09-26-2003 10:30 PM

good friend....i am not in the wedding blah blah blah
You are letting a "Good Friend" get married. What kind of friend does that make you?
