De-Naming and Re-Naming

Ok I need a ruling here. We are having some gel coat and graphics work done on our boat and part of that is having the old name and registration #' s removed. I know all about the de naming ritual and pleasing the boating gods and even the re-naming as well.

My question is if someone else removes the name and I install the new name, can we perform the denaming ceremony at any time prier to placing the new name on the boat?

We dont want to upset the boating gods.

 :D :D

According to Catman there are no "Boat Gods" :D:D I think that you have to do it all at once however.

Kevin,
We have performed this ceremony on a couple of occasions with a couple of boats.
I'm not sure if it will appease the boatGods or not, but they did make for a good party.

I even owned a boat with NO name is that bad?

Lutz:

There are no boat gods. You have fallen victim to a nasty typo.

There are board gods.

Last I heard, de-naming involves sending a case of fine French champagne to OSO HQ. Re-naming involves sending two cases of fine French champagne to OSO HQ.

I know I didn't follow the proper sequence and have had problems ever since. Do yourself a favor and follow the ritual to the letter. ;)

Believe me, you don't want to make boating gods mad:hothead: They have been kicking my azz.

Thanks

LOL , im not so sure about the champagne to the board gods at OSO but I do know that we performed the ceremonies for the former LutzParty and had nothing but good luck on that vessel.

I hear ya on the making a party of it, I must admit that when i de-named the former boat I did it when no one was around......ha haha........I didnt want the neighbors thinking I was any crazier than they already think I am. The re-naming was a bit more of a party as MissAmy and the kids joined in on it.

Thanks for the links too. :D :D

Kevin,
An official re-naming process is dynamic depending on the boat that is being re-named. The process must involve some episodes that follows the history of the craft, in order to close out that part of it's life. It must also include something that signifies its future and what journey may lie ahead.
I'm not sure what you need to do in order to include a part of her past, but I'm thinking girls dancing in thongs are certainly in order to signify her future!!
