Another fatality Lake Mead

One dead in Lake Mohave crash SEARCHLIGHT, Nev. - One person is dead and one remains hospitalized after a boat crash on Lake Mohave Saturday. The incident happened a little before midnight, when the high-performance speed boat piloted by Eve Haley, 38, of Apple Valley, Calif., smashed into Cottonwood Island, just south of Cottonwood Cove. The impact of the crash killed Haley and injured her husband, James Haley, 36, who was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. Two others, Donna Cheek, 30, and Brian Cheek, 40, both of Victorville, Calif., suffered undisclosed injuries and were transported to UMC where they were treated and released. Cause of accident remains under investigation but water elevation is not considered a factor. It's the 23rd fatality in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area this year, the fourth resulting from a boating accident |
