OT: silverado dual exhaust

I have a 2001 silverado with the 5.3 v8 it comes form the factory with dual cats then runs into one big muffler. anyone here ever run a set of true duals on one of these trucks and what was the performance gain.

You won't actually see a substantial performance gain and the dual system will just be heavier. Now if changing the sound is all you're after then you could dual it out with say a pair of Flowmasters. But you won't see any 0 to 60 improvements. Automobile manufactures do a very good job of getting all you can get out of an engine/trans combination.

mikev,

I have a HD with the 6.0 and I put on true duals (Gibson-stainless "swept back") and I enjoyed the difference in sound plus the stainless up here in WI is needed or it would not last long. The aftermarket muffler is MUCH lighter than stock! I have also added a UPD air intake (smoked) as well as hypertech power programming. If I had to do it all over again I would skip the hypertech and go with a Diablo programmer...has many more options and is a whole lot faster when programming. Not sure on actual performance gains but.....sure does sound alot better!
